Wow, so I haven't been on here in a long a time, and a LOT has changed (like everything), so here we go. I'm buying 5 acres with a 600 square foot (+ a loft) metal building on it. There's a well, septic, and power already. The building is not wired except the bathroom and there's no insulation...
Not really finding the answers I want on google, that's why I came here.
Trying to think outside the box, I wanna know what's cheap AND safe for heat.
Because I know wood stove is cheap, but would it be safer to have a propane heater? But how expensive is propane? Maybe there's a better...
What's the cheapest, yet still safe, way to heat?
Ill just need to heat a 12 x 20 house.
Also, as a bonus, are there any cheap alternatives to cooling and how expensive are 12 volt refrigerators?
Okay scratch what I said, I just talked to an Amish friend and he explained that if I use 12 volt lights and stuff, I could buy 3 big batteries (about $100 each) and 1 solar panel (about $200) and a controller? I think is what he said, for $85 and I could power all my lights and charge my phone...
Hmm okay. I would say for little stuff like lamps, phone chargers, and wifi it'd be plugged in all the time. Hot water heater used throughout the day for little things, and one shower. Fridge would be on 24/7. Microwave maybe once or twice a day and stove maybe once a day. Tv wouldn't be used...
It would be, roughly, a 12x20 tiny house, with a fridge, stove, tv, hot water heater, 4 light fixtures, and then plug ins which would probably just have phone chargers, wifi router, maybe a lamp, and a microwave plugged in.
Potentially a washer and dryer (used once a week) and a maybe a deep...
does anyone know of a trustworthy and not over the top expensive place where I can buy a yurt?
I'm in MO if that helps, not sure how much shipping is on them bad boys.
Well, the people I bought them from weren't sure exactly when they were bred :barnie but guessedamated the younger one has 4 weeks or so left and the black on probably has 2 months left. You can tell the young one doesn't have long, she is faaaat, and she's got milk. The black doesn't look very...
Oh, time for an update on that. Yes, I did. I got two actually. One is the 4 year old black one, she's pregnant. The other is a white and grey 9 month old, who's DEFINITELY pregnant. The black one has something going on with her udder, one side is bagged up and the other is not. It's not...
Thanks for the responses!
I'll do round bales because I have horses to and it'll just be easier on me to get round.
As for the buddies, I didn't know if Pygmys were smaller or not. I don't really need anything out of the buddy, I'm just milking for myself so one milk goat will do. I wish you...
