Hello. I joined the forum to learn more about self sustainability, primarily. I've become tired of the rat-race and consumerism that surrounds me, and had tied me down in the past. I'm at a point in my life where I want to value my family, and nature around me (my true happiness). Working towards increasing my education, and making positive changes. Should be exciting!

Welcome to SS!! Since coming here, I have purchased a dehydrator (Excalibur 9 tray), Family Grain mill and Foodsaver. They are awesome for preserving food. I have canned since I was in my 20's, but had never dove off in the depths of food preservation. I also have stocked up on dry foods, wheat, quinoa, beans, rice, pasta, sugar-all sealed up with the Foodsaver and stored in buckets. The pantry is packed, as is the freezer. I am a long way from being truly Self Sufficient, but I have a good running start.

There is lots and lots of good information in the forums. Please don't feel like you can't comment on an old thread. Sometimes old threads get revived and take off again. Ask any questions you like, this is a friendly place and someone will be glad to help you.
