Had a great and productive weekend!
The bf had to work Saturday morning, but that means he starts this week with 5 1/2 hrs on the clock. I soaked in the tub since i didn't get to do that Friday and then got myself started for the day. I started digging up the giant bunch of black eyed Susans to transplant. I scattered them all over the farm and still had a bunch left over. I gave some to S and some to T since there were so many. Now I just need to get some bricks set up to hold the barrel.
I finished with that and so the bf and I decided to go to his parents house since no one was home to work on cleaning out his room. The bad part was that his mom kept stuffing things in there so we had to work around that. We managed to get a huge chunk of it done. We brought home 6 boxes of stuff we have to go through and find homes for, have 2 bags of clothes to goodwill and tossed 4 bags of trash. You can actually walk around the room now which is nice! Hopefully his parents will go out of town again and we can get back to it again and try to finish. I'm sure it made his mom happy when she saw.
We left there and headed back home and cooked steak on the grill which turned out lovely. We tried to grill carrots but they didn't stay on quite long enough and several were really crunchy.
Sunday we got up and rolled out of bed slowly. Eventually he headed down the hill to fix my truck. I started working on the floor. I finished the vacuuming and then started mopping. I mopped in sections and even worked in the brick hallway. Having a who knows how old brick hallway is cool. Cleaning a who knows how old brick hallway... not so cool! It took a mop and deck brush together to get it clean. And the worst sections had to be done twice.
It took me all day but I got it done. I am really happy with it. Pretty much everything got moved to mop including the couch! The bf got his muffler replaced without too much struggle so now I can't hear him coming from a million miles away. We finally took a break and ran to goodwill and grabbed a few things at the grocery store and got a little bite to eat at a fun bagel shop. Came back home and kept working. The bf mowed the pasture while I finished the mopping and did more laundry.
We fixed chili for dinner them managed to get the chinchillas cage cleaned. It was long overdue so I'm glad we got it done! After cleaning up from that we crashed.
I have to say it is very nice to be able to walk around bare foot and not feel grit everywhere! Now if I can just keep it that way....
Omg! The other girls just feed the horses this morning so I don't have to worry about it. They are so sweet. Maybe I can get the clothes folded now instead.
And I'm so glad we didn't go to the beach. Or was an extremely productive weekend and we didn't spend money. Much less stressful! We'll just have to plan a trip down at some other time.

Sounds like you had a really good weekend - and no stress from spending money. A brick hallway sounds so cool! (except for the keeping it clean part...)

I wonder if the bricks could be treated the way they treat tile floor paver in Ibiza, where my mom used to live. The pavers are very porous, and would absorb stains and look really nasty if they didn't treat them first. They use linseed oil on the pavers- just keep adding it until the pavers don't absorb it anymore. They take on a deeper color, and a kind of satiny sheen, and spills and stuff just sit on top until they can be mopped up?

Having someone else feed horses is always a nice bonus.

Britsea, actually the tough part is the texture. There are deep grooves where the mortar is in some places and it ends up holding dirt. I have noticed a few strains from where a few things have been sat but it isn't that noticeable, the dirt getting trapped in the grooves is the tough part.
Yesterday was sort of productive. I did get the bathroom floor mopped before I left for the farm. But then it took me forever to run my two errands so I was later getting over to the farm than I wanted. Washed eggs and then are lunch then weeded for 4 hours. Very exciting lol
I had to leave early to get home to shower and get ready for a retirement dinner for the former partner in the practice. He will be missed. Dinner was good but it took them forever. I got home way later than I wanted to and then the bf and I were awake way longer than I wanted to be catching up from our day.
The other gal fed again this morning which is so nice for me. I feel a bit guilty but I'm also relieved since it is so hard to be in the barn with my allergies right now. The farrier will be here today so I'm going to work the horse a little before he gets here. We'll see How that goes, I think the lawn guys just got here again too, so this might be really interesting....

Yesterday was good though I didn't get as much done as I really wanted but I did get the horse worked for a bit and got fly predators put out. I got the previous two loads of clothes that we set folded and ran two more loads, one of which was sheets so I got the bed remade too. Through most of that I talked to my mom for about 4 1/2 hours. It was good to catch up with her.
Dinner ended up being leftovers because the chicken didn't thaw fast enough. Guess that will be tonight. If it is tonight I guess I'd better get it prepared this morning so it's ready to cook tonight!
It's raining already this morning so I'm not sure what will happen today on the farm. I suppose there is still plenty of work I can do in the house if I don't go over there.

Well the rain pretty much bummed today's farm plans. I stopped by to go over a few things with S and then headed down to the library to see what I could find about herbs. Got some great looking books, too many really, and then headed home. Ran another load of laundry and folded what was dry. I started on the reorganization, well, really, the organization of the recipes and all that happy paperwork. I didn't get very far and still feel pretty disorganized which demotivated me. So I'm stuck again. I guess I'll get it straight eventually.
My allergies have been very annoying today despite the rain. I wish it would go away.
I headed out this morning and took care of the horse and chatted with AJ for a bit. I was surprised to see the rain barrel was over half full! I checked with S and we had only had .06" of rain so far today. Eek! I might have to put an overflow barrel on this one. I guess we'll see what happens. Sorry the pic is sideways! Don't know how to fix that!

Yesterday in the office was about normal. I had to help the IT guy with some stuff which mostly went well. Except for the machine that has somehow had a bios password out on it. No clue how or why and we're not even sure that it can be fixed. Fun times.
The other big mess of the day is that the girl that they hired to fill in one the previous partner retires ended up working/getting fired. I'm not entirely sure how it all went down but apparently she approached the owner yesterday and told him that she knows that she isn't very confident dealing with patients and she wanted to make site he was ok with everything before they spend all the time to get her authorized under the insurances. Wth?! He was rather stunned and so after discussing it with hr he decided to let her go. They even made the suggestion that she could be asked a few hours one a week to get some sort of help with the issue and get response was that she didn't need help. o_O I don't blame him for letting her go though I would have handled it much differently.
I ended up doing at the house that had the cool trunk for sale on the way home. We stopped over the weekend and looked at it and it said $150 which was more than we could afford. We didn't pursue it since we didn't have any money on us anyway. So when I drove by again in the way to work almost a week later and it was still sitting there and got rained on I decided to stop on my way home. I guess it was meant to be because the guy was actually getting ready to leave and walked down to see me. I pleaded my case and offered him the $83.00 in my wallet and he took it. He and his son even loaded it into the truck for me. I surprised the bf with it as a bit of an anniversary gift since our anniversary is coming up and we've almost been here for a year. I'll post a picture later.
I've got to get ready this morning and get the pot roast together for tonight and then head over to the farm. I'm staying late tonight until the market closes since S is hosting a party for his daughters graduation. That will help make up for the hours I lost this week from a short day Monday and a rain day Wednesday and dinner will be ready when I get home.
Best get moving...

Amusing, previous post was post number 778 on page 78. Maybe I should play the lotto...
Here's the truck. Funky and well built which is nice!
