Peter Paul and Mary put it this way:

I'd like to take you by surprise at the grocery store
Grab you by the hand and step on the electric door
Leave the shopping cart right where it is
I betcha somebody's got the same list
I wanna take us away from all this to a distant shore

I know it sounds funny, but it's true
I get so busy I forget I'm in love with you
And every now and then we need
To get away to get close again

Up in the air in a window seat
Your head on my shoulder and a blanket around our feet
We could leave the kids at home
And if you get worried we could telephone
We need a weekend of fun for under two hundred dollars complete

I'd leave the car by the curb with the motor on
The tape deck playin' our favorite love song
And you'd say "What in the world?"
And smile just like a little girl
And I'd say, "I can't tell you now but it won't be long"

I know it sounds funny, but it's true
I get so busy I forget I'm in love with you
And every now and then we need
To get away to get close again

There we would be in a sunny land
We'd lie on the beach and you could wiggle your toes in the sand
A tropical drink late at night
And a midnight dip if the temperature's right
The best things turn out better if they never were planned

I know it sounds funny, but it's true
I get so busy I forget I'm in love with you
And every now and then we need
To get away to get close again

We did have a good day!

I thought my daughter and grandbabies were gonna come visit this weekend - but nope. Not gonna happen. I am officially in grandbaby withdrawal.... I've got one last doe that's due so I can't really leave this weekend. If she weren't a first freshener I might consider it. She doesn't look big enough to convince me that she's got multiples in there...but she might. Multiples are usually easier to deliver for a first timer cuz they're smaller...unless they get tangled up, but that doesn't happen very often for us.

The last two that were born are really tiny, even though they're 1/4 nubian, they're not much bigger than pure pygmies at this time. It'll be interesting to see how they grow out. One of them might be destined for freezer camp - the other one is just so cuuuuute I dunno about him. He'll probably sell really well with his wild coloring so he might get a reprieve.

I'm hoping this last doe delivers on time so I can do all the disbudding at once -cuz I hate it so much! And, it's been a buck year. This years count, so far, is 5 bucklings, 4 doelings. Maybe Sparkle can change the count this weekend. Her official first due date is tomorrow so it would be very courteous of her to deliver early tomorrow morning and then I could head north to my daugher's house and squeeze grandbabies all wekkend!

I'm about to separate chickens so I can start breeding some purebreds again. Kind of bad timing cuz I've got so many broodies sittin on mixed eggs, lol. But, I need to get 'em separated for awhile so the eggs I want to sit in the fall will be purebred. I guess I'm gonna be eating a lot of mixed breed rooster chicks in the future! That's ok - they taste pretty good.

I turned a couple of the bucks into half of the spent garden area and they're doing their best to clean it up. The other half still has some tomato plants justa hanging on, lol.

In another couple months I'll have to decide if I want pigs again. We butchered the two last spring and they were mighty tasty. All I have left in the freezer is some sausage, so it might be time to start planning on a couple more. I do love me some pork, so chances are we'll become pig feeders again...

Whooo-weeee! I spent a couple hours today cleaning onions and getting them chopped up for the dehydrator. I have no less than 8 trays drying out right now. AND, the dehydrator and all those chopped onions are all on the back porch cuz I just can NOT tolerate the smell of drying onions...ugh!

I cooked a home-grown leg of lamb today. I slathered it in chopped rosemary and garlic and I can't even begin to tell you how delicious it was/is! I have GOT to get me a couple lambs to raise for the freezer again. I didn't even know how much I loved lamb!

Sigh... I guess Sparkle is gonna drag out her delivery allll weekend. Today was 145 days for her and while I can see progress....she certainly did NOT deliver today. Hoping she will definitely go soon so I can head north to visit next weeend.

Good job on the onions. I did that last year with a 50 pound sack of onions I bought direct from the farmer. It took me the weekend to do it all, but I've really enjoyed having them for when I'm trying to get dinner together in a hurry and don't want to take the time to chop a fresh one.

The lamb was probably delicious, but I'm allergic to lamb and mutton, sigh. Now, do the same prep on a goat for me and I'll be in 7th heaven!

I prefer food names for my animals. Eventually, I'd like to go outside, holler Cheddar, Cheese, Ice Cream! and have a bunch of cows come running! :D Flank's 'proper' name is Flank Steak. By looking at me, you could probably guess I love food, so it fits!
Ah, the difference a thousand + miles northward will make! My garden is just now being to take off, and my 'big' harvests so far have been radishes, rhubarb and strawberries! :p
