Welcome welcome welcome from West Tennessee! So cool that u have lived in Alaska. My hubby did some commercial fishing in Alaska back in his younger years... I've always wanted to go myself. Winter would bum me out love my sunshine too much!!! Lol anyway welcome to the SS. I'm pretty new myself so I'm still getting acquainted too. Looking forward to learning more bout these herbal salves. Kool beans

Hi, Lawana, I enjoy making salves, also, and continue to learn more about plants and their abilities to help us out. Comfrey is one of my favorites. I know people and animals who keep getting various bumps and breaks, and a nice comfrey salve (and poultice) is good for that as well as good for just soothing the skin.

I am in Western Montana, near Superior. Pretty dry, semi arrid here too. This is a June picture, it is mostly tan here now.

I also love comfrey, except the scent. I use a lot of yarrow and plantain topically. It smells a little nicer to me. Comfrey is more potent though, I think.

It's a beautiful place you live in, @Lawana

I've used comfrey a bit for medicinal use and Bulbinella (link) is simply wonderful used as is, for minor skin problems, insect bites and such. It grows like weeds here, where I currently live (South Africa). We have Lemon balm as well and I recall seeing a TV programme on it once, where they used it to treat cold sores? I wish I could remember now what they did. I get the beastly things now and then, when my system's down.

Love those herbs! I use all kinds of herbs to prevent and cure all kinds of things. Some herbs have great power. It is a shame more people don't understand them enough to use them. If you are in tune with them, they have wonderful healing qualities!
