I agree with Baymule! Fresh, raw goat milk sells for 8 - 12 bucks a gallon around here... and it takes a whole bunch of milk to make a pound of cheese! Maybe have an "introductory price" of a buck a lb if you've already told folks that - but inform them that is the "sample" price!

Well, I let a gallon stay out, so its at room temp and I'm about to turn it into about 18 or so oz of cheese. Got up bright and early cuz Sis called that 3 cops were at Dad's house. Called him to ask why and he tells me he has been crawling for 45 mins. I asked him if he wanted to go back to the behavior unit and he told me to leave him alone, so I went to the back, along with my 2 sibs and we discovered the car had been moved, slightly, and he tells us that he went to Wal-Mart at 2AM for vienna sausage and other things.....so I ask,"What??? On Xanax and Tylenol PM?" and he says he didn't take that, to which I tell him he did. So I have put him to bed and disabled the car.....again. So seeings as I'm up, at a reasonable farming hour (on my first complete day off), I saw about the animals early and I"m ready for school.
Need to put the girls at the table and get busy in the kitchen, with cheese, dishes and whatever.
My life is one big adventure story.
Hope it has a good ending.

Per ounce sounds much better. Just an oops post, easy to understand with all you have going on. At least you have your animals to help keep your sanity.

As of yesterday, I own Dad's car....thank God!
So I've been trying very hard not to fall too far behind on any chores and thank God DS lends a hand here and there. I really didn't get much help from DD, because of her classes, this summer, but now she is a highschool teacher and makes more money than me, so its all good.
Looking forward to a little cool weather, so I have courage to tackle more things, but I have been forceing myself to do some sweating. I put myself doing some of the hard things, just to accomplish a few of the tasks I've set for myself. I'm not fit to be seen, after I've done them, but hey.....at least I'm getting somewhere.
I've got some nasty yuck on some of my orange trees and I'm going to buy neem oil to treat them. I think I'll still be within the range of organic gardening with neem. If it works out, might get a neem tree, if it is able to grow is the sticky heat. IDK, but gotta treat. I wouldn't want the coons to get sick eating my infected fruit, now would I? Have been reading lots of recipes for making marmalade and looking forward to giving them a try.
So also been working on a little side line sales. Overheard 2 of my aids talking about a diet product a few weeks ago and I asked them to tell me more about it and by all they were telling me.....all natural, gives energy, decreases appetie, etc.....I said, "Well, that sounds like a product, I used to take years ago." and I was wondering if it was still available, because I used to be a distributer and was pretty sure I would get it for a better price than the stuff the girls were talking about....so I"m back with Extreme Power Plus, which might have something to do with how i"m doing all that sweating. Its good for me to be able to accomplish all those chores, but really, I'm trying to tell everyone I come into contact with about it, so they can refer me to their friends, etc....Was also trying to talk a few businesses into trying to sell the stuff, like they used to, because it works on a referral thingy. Its slow, but I have sold a few bottles. I'm hoping I can sell at least a case a month. I think I'll paint a sign for my yard tomorrow, to go under my FRESH YARD EGGS sign to see if I can get a little business like that. I wanted someone to help me start a website, but my DD 25 thinks it will be a hard thing to manage. IDK. But it was through someone's website that I was able to get back in, so seems like it would be worth a try. I mean....I'm not really a sales person, so if the website can do the selling, so much the better.
So its about time I have a slaughter day because I have about a dozen extra males to put in freezer camp. Not looking forward to it, but will very much like to have it behind me. So does anyone else find that muscovies are super hard to pluck?
I treated myself to a battery operated weedeater, which I bought off of amazon, discontinued, with an extra battery, because the goats and chickens can't do it all, plus, I don't need a man to start the weedeater if its battery operated. Amen.

trying to do a business from a website is harder than most people realize. For starters, try doing a search for the keywords you think people might use if they were searching for the product. I'm betting you will find quite a few other sites using those keywords, and you will be competing with all of them for business. Most people don't look much past the 2nd or 3rd page of listings, and getting your site listed in the top 10 or 20 takes a LOT of work and money.
I used to sell handmade jewelry and I think it took something like 5 years before I finally started getting sales on my website, and even then I still had to fight to stay up there.

I would need all kinds of help to get it started and I really don't have it, so I'm just operating my small line business out of my diaper bag....I needed a new purse and chose a nice diaper bag, that isn't obviously a diaper bag.
Well, I'm down, cuz kids are gone, but its time to milk a goat and see about Daddy and prepare for my weekend. I have 4 bottles of EPP in my purse, but not sure I shouldn't put in another 2 or 3 cuz my co-workers have been buying them from me. Well, if I can sell just a case a month, I think it will be worth it and before I just add to my retirement, I want to play the market a bit and then get conservative again, so some extra income would be nice.
I've tried thinning out a few animals, but not too many people bit on the offers. I had been having my goats sat by their origional owners because my neighbor called cops cuz of duck poop on her driveway and I knew 2 of my goats could escape, so we made a smaller, stronger pen and have been keeping them better contained, but I still have a milking chore....which doesn't kill me, but its a regular responsibility and so many animals. Well, I have a daughter that was accepted into a competition team and next summer I have to leave for at least a week and worry about who will tend my things for me. Plus....just wanted to downsize, so less to deal with and can bring the kids for trips. Went look at a camper someone has for sale. It was nice, but more thinking of a truck-camper....figure it would be cheaper and maybe safer and easier to park. Just want to start doing fun things and see things that I've not seen in a very long time. I don't even see hills, let alone mountains. If it weren't for trees and other obsticles, I could look around and see for miles and miles in every direction....totally flat, everywhere. And thats pretty much all my kids know. I know other things and have climbed them, but I wanna bring my kids for a few extended road trips. Just think a few less animals might be a good idea. If I just had enough chickens to take care of my family and maybe I can see if a rancher wants my buck, for weed control....and really I think the muscovies are my favorite breed of duck, so I can get rid of the pekings and rouens. Well, its nice to type it out, but no one is exactly flocking. No hurry, I guess, but when opportunity presents itself, I want to sell some projects.

Sometimes you need to downsize in order to have any life at all. I can remember my mom complaining about the garden tying her down in the summer.
