Oh my! I'm so sorry to hear of your struggles. Sensing warm healing thoughts to you! Maybe comfrey compresses would help mend the bones.

Thanks ya'll. It's rough right now, but this too will pass.

M-I-L has been released from the hospital to an inpatient rehabilitation center. Her insurance will cover her for up to 28 days there, so that is a true blessing and relief. We had thought we could bring her back here, but that's just not going to happen any time soon.

DH is in a world of hurt. He can't even breathe without pain. He's supposed to be doing breathing treatments. He's trying, but taking a deep breath is almost impossible for him. His eyes are blackening more every day and it looks like he's got a broken finger on his right hand. There are huge bruises on his rib cage and the inside of his left arm. He's also got new pain on the left side of his rib cage and swears he's got breaks on that side too. His tail bone is bruised and he just can NOT find a place of comfort. He can't sit because of the tail bone, he can't lay because of the ribs. He tries to stay on his feet because that's the only way he can be fairly comfortable - but he's so tired I'm afraid he'll just keel over. Earlier today I found him standing leaned up against the wall - asleep!

This is going to be a very long road back to health. And, I'm really sad to say that we've "lawyered up". His car is totaled. It was a 2013 Lexus that we paid cash for and by golly, I want that cash back! Now I've got to go buy another car and my available cash was spent on the first car. He only had it 8 months and had just put new tires all around last month. There's going to be at least a month of him not being able to work, so lost wages are really going to stack up...I'll have lost wages also for staying home with him. The list goes on and on and there's no way an insurance company will "offer" us enough to cover our losses. And, besides all the good reasons - I'm just fairly pissed now. This person was totally negligent...probably on her phone and now my DH is suffering for her stupidity. ARGH!

Near Vancouver, on the wet coast.
It sounds like it will be a rough fall, for all of you. Take care of yourself, because if you get sick it will all be so much worse. Can you have 2 separate claims with the insurance company? Here we can settle separately for the vehicle and the physical/medical, at least that way you wouldn't feel pressured so much to settle both just to get the car part dealt with.

I hope it will all get taken care of quickly and won't drag out for years.

I hope the claim resolves quickly in your favor!
I hope DH stabilizes and heals quick. Day 3 is the worst usually.

I'm actually kind of worried about going the lawyer route. I mean right off the top we're gonna lose 40%, but with the kind of issues we're having I think it's the only smart way to go. I've worked in the legal field and have seen so many frivolous claims get paid big bucks, and so many legitimate claims come out with nothing, so I'm really not looking forward to the process. I'm kind of hoping that it can be split into property damage and separate medical damage, but I really don't know. Too many things have changed since 15 years ago when I was a paralegal. But, we've hooked up with a really good PI attorney so I think we'll be ok.

You're right HQueen13- he woke up today even more stiff and sore than before. And when I say "woke up" that's not exactly true because he's not really getting any sleep to speak of. Maybe an hour or so at a time as soon as his pain meds kick in - but really not more than that.

I'm getting constant calls from OUR insurance company - but still haven't heard from the opposing company at all. Figures, huh.

I lost Lil Bit last night. I knew it was gonna happen so I just left her in her corner and let her slip away peacefully. BUT - that still means I've gotta go bury a goat this afternoon. Ground is saturated with more rain predicted. I'm not sure how I'm gonna handle this 100lb+ goat all by myself...

This too will pass....everything happens for a reason...God doesn't give you more than you can handle...what doesn't kill me makes me stronger...

I recall reading a book where the person had injured their tailbone. They had a cushion to sit on that basically looked like a padded toilet seat. It was the only way they could sit.

And I feel for him w/the ribs. I had 4 cracked ribs years ago and that was painful enough. I cannot image the pain he's in.

Sorry you lost Lil Bit. Hope you're able to get her taken care of. :hugs
