Ya, I'm bummed about the loss, but today (touch wood) they're all there and doing great. Mom's exploring further and further with them.

They have their little wings in. Mine area always getting into trouble around this stage. Well at least the silkie chicks get into trouble. I think they know they won't be able to see well to get into trouble soon enough.

I have one that keeps escaping. I think it's always the same one. The problem being that mamma is being a good mamma and teaching them how to scratch. But, she's scratching all the dirt away from the bottom of the fence and this one keeps finding the holes. So, I've started putting bricks down along the edge.

I have a 2x4 in front of the door. They were able to squeeze through the inch or so of space so the board blocks it. I'm so happy they are now to big to get out

to cute. i love baby chicks and baby ducks too. thought i was thru for the year but saw mama daphnee duck slide under the wheelbarrow and has hidden another clutch of eggs under there so we'll see how she does with them.
