I didn't get everything done. Work whipped my butt! We thought it was going to be quick and we'd be done in about 4 hours. We went for over 6, and weren't done but I had to leave. So, it was after 4:00 B4 I left the farm. By the time I got home, I was just too tired to do anything. So, I won't be making up a new list for tomorrow. I'm going out to breakfast, then once I get home, I'm working on the goat pen, then working on today's list. I'm hoping I have the goat pen all redone and the area for the chickens set up. Then I can bring home the hens I'm bringing home. If I had gotten more than 1 hen out of last year's chicks, I would be thinning out my flock some-I have 28 chickens! But, the majority of them are chicks.

I still didn't get everything done. The meeting after breakfast went waaaay over so I was really late getting home. So I decided to get right to work on the tomatoes. But, since I haven't been able to do them the way I want this year, I had very few large ones, but a ton of small ones-including cherry tomatoes. Do you know how long it takes to get enough of those peeled for making stewed tomatoes? Once I got them all prepped, I ran out to the farm, took care of everyone, came home and fed the goats and the bunnies. Then I relaxed for a bit then started on the tomatoes again. They are in the canner right now, but it never got up to pressure. Instead, I had steam coming out around the one handle, and refused to pressurize. So, I'm letting it cool down, then I'm going to take everything out, see how much water I have, add some if I need to, then lubricate the gasket and try again. I don't do a lot of pressure canning because it seems like I always have trouble w/the canner. I've already told hubby I want a different one. The one I have is a 22 quart canner. I want something smaller.

I should be doing some cleaning in the kitchen, but I just don't feel like it. I'd like to go to bed, but can't. It looks like I'm going to be up late tonight.

I don't know how I'm going to get thru the day. It was after 1:00 by the time I was finally able to get to bed. I still have the rest of that basket of peaches to can. And, 2 of the lids failed on the last batch of sauce I did, so I'm planning on recanning that. The fun never ends. I'm hoping I can make relish, zucchini pickles and salsa this week as well as get another basket or 2 of peaches. But they will probably just get dehydrated.

That is no fun when the camber doesn't cooperate. 22 quarts?! That's huge! Mine is big but I don't think it's that big

It doesn't hold 22 quart jars, only 7. But, it holds 20 pints and 36 (?) half pints. They have them smaller that hold 10 pints if I remember correctly. That size would work better for me.

I didn't really get anything done yesterday. When I got home from church, hubby was in the kitchen. He wanted to can hot peppers, but didn't want to do it until I got home. We discussed how he was going to do it, but then he kept changing what he was doing. And of course, he was drunk. I was ready to scream. And since he didn't do stuff the way he said he was going to, and didn't listen to me, he ended up w/a broken jar. By the time he got them in the bather, and it was boiling, it was after 4:30. I set the timer for him, and told him I was going to take a nap. I also told him that when they were done, he needed to take them out of the pot. Then I went in the bedroom.

I tried to sleep, but had no luck. Plus, I was listening for the timer. I never heard it go off, so after a bit, I got up and went in the kitchen. The timer had gone off, but rather than taking the jars out, he just moved the pot over. :bang: So, I ended up taking them out. I never got anything done that I wanted to, and the kitchen is now more of a mess than it was.

It gets dark too early now for me to take the bike to church in the evening. I hate to ride at night. And since I had come straight home from church in the morning, I had to take the truck out to the farm when I fed. Otherwise, I would have gone after the morning service so I didn't need to use as much gas. But I figured taking it then was probably a good thing. I had some stuff I wanted to bring home-including my tools. I need them so I can get a small coop made for the chickens I'll be bringing home. I need to get that done. So, my list for today is:

1. Put away any laundry that's still out
2. Clean living room
3. Normal farm chores
4. Clean field and spread manure
5. Rearrange hay in hay shelter. I'm going to the hay auction tomorrow, so I need to do this today
6. If I have time, work w/and ride Misty
7. Can more peaches
8. Recan sauce
9. Dishes
10. Work on goat pen. The thing that's really holding me up on this is there's a dead tree in the pen. Hubby keeps saying he's going to take it down, but never does. I cannot do anything until that is gone, so it looks like I'll be doing it myself.

I think that's enough for today. I need to get busy so I can get it all done.

I didn't get much done on my list today. I had vertigo attacks all day long, nothings serious, just enough to keep me from doing stuff. I'm going to go to bed early and hope that I'll be over it by tomorrow.
