Thanks, Deb.

I was so pleased with the tractor that I went out and finished mowing the entire pasture. Looks so much better and the critters appreciate it too. The grass was sooo tall that they pretty much avoided it and went to the neighbor's side of our combined fields. After my side was mowed down I saw them out there exploring and munching - so - I call it a successful afternoon!

Decided to move some bucks around. I brought Dusty (the 8 month old Nubian buck) into the front barnyard area and put him with some other bucks. He's been with a couple of gals, but I wanted to turn them out on pasture which left him all alone. He doesn't do well alone... Now he's got a couple bucks to butt heads with. And, at last check he had knocked off a tiny scur that he's been wearing and he had a bloody head. Bucks...whatcha gonna do with 'em?

After moving Dusty I decided to put the youngest bucks in a pen all by themselves. No reason to have some little guys, only a few months old and pygmy sized, with a big ol' Nubian. (Even though the buck that Dusty is fighting with is a young pygmy - but he's tough!)

Still trying to get Splash accustomed to the milking stand. She likes to come in the milk room and jump up on the stand. She's got that part down, lol! The problem comes when I start rubbing her in the udder area. She goes absolutely crazy! But, she's gonna have to get used to it - and she will. All the rest of them have, so she will too.

Made some killer salmon with pesto for dinner. Sautéed some mushrooms and steamed some broccoli and cauliflower to go with - scrumptious if I do say so myself! A glass of wine and I'll probably call it a night.

You know that tired feeling(?)...that really GOOD tired feeling(?) I've got it - so I'll be calling it a night soon.

OMG - Poor DH! Another day - another wreck. I cannot believe it! :th

Thankfully, it wasn't terribly bad. Today was his first day to go back to work...his first day to drive his new car anywhere except a doctor visit. We live on a dead-end road about 4/10 of a mile from a main road. He didn't even make it to the main road when a deer jumped right out in front of him. He's fine... but his brand new Volvo isn't quite perfect anymore. :( but all in all, it wasn't as bad as it could've been. Only damage we can find is some broken plastic on the grill. But talk about MAD! My husband doesn't lose his temper very often, but he was swearing a blue streak and if he coulda caught that deer (it ran off) he woulda killed it with his bare hands.

They started on the roof today and I guess they're about 1/3rd done. Unfortunately, I'm not totally crazy about the color I picked - but too late now.

Splash was at the fence teasing the boys when I went out tonight so I put her with Short Stuff....and while he was more than willing, she's just a bit too tall. Soooo, I drug out the ramp that we've used for the last two years. He's such a smart boy - he remembered just how to climb up that ramp and get the job done. Not sure what Splash's' problem is, but after that one 'love connection' she was done...over it...finished and wanted outta dat pen. So, we'll see if one time is enough. I'll try to put 'em together again tomorrow evening, but I have a feeling she won't still be accepting at all by then.

Watching the Texans game and - woohoo - they scored on their first possession and they just recovered a Steeler fumble. GO TEXANS!

Oh man, that's not good! Poor guy! I hope you're able to get it fixed without too much expense.
Glad the tractor is holding up. Getting something mowed that desperately needed it is always a good feeling. Now if only I could get to the weeds that desperately need it.....

Yeah....it just wasn't his day yesterday. He only made it through half a day at work. That's okay though, he just needs to build back up slowly. He managed to sleep in the bed Sunday night, but it sure didn't happen last night, so it was back downstairs to his recliner. It's like one step forward and two steps back for him.... But, it will get better. He sure felt strong enough to throw a big ol' temper tantrum after he hit that deer, lol!

It's too bad he didn't at least get the deer.

My goodness!!!! Deer are definatly a no bueno situation in car wrecks! Glad to hear he's alright though! Crash's are very scary regardless what/who's involved!
I gotta agree with denim deb though, too bad he didn't get that deer!

I agree! At least some venison would have been a nice consolation prize...

Roofers are just about finished and the windstorm inspectors will be out today to give everything their blessing. The painters should start soon and hopefully I can have my driveway parking back!

I think my Nubian, K'ili is, ummm, how do I say this, a "tease". She lived with Dusty for a month or so, but she's still running around flagging her tail at the boys through the fence. Her girls parts do NOT show any indication of a heat cycle- no pink or puffy parts, no secretions...nothing! She's already looking like she's got a belly growing - so I think shes just upsetting the boys for the fun of it! Even took her into Short Stuff's pen and she's having none of it. She's a funny girl!

Had to smack around a couple of the boys yesterday too. What's gotten into these goats? Went into their pen and I guess they're frustrated cuz one of them thought I looked pretty good, lol. When he started blubbering at me the other one came running up to see what he was missing....grrrrrr! So a couple well placed whacks with a switch seemed to convince them that I wasn't so friendly. Stoopid goats!
