Yeah, it fizzled here. I guess I'm glad I'm not in Boston... but I kinda enjoy snow, so...
I hope you'll be able to get some of your tack shed fixed up yourself. Stinks that hubby isn't being real helpful...

Bible study got cancelled today. Even though we didn't get a lot of snow, there was snow on some roads and it was below freezing. So that meant there could have been black ice. So, rather than take a chance, they cancelled. I did more work in my tack shed until my feet got too cold. I was able to get it up above 50 in there, but couldn't get my feet warm. So, I sat on my cot wrapped in a blanket for a bit and figured out about how many bales of hay I need for next year. I came up w/270. I don't need any until some time in June, so I don't have to go to the hay auction for now! I'll probably start looking for hay in April or May. After I figured out how much hay I needed, I decided to take a nap. I wasn't 100% comfortable, but was still able to fall asleep. After I got up, I fed Stormy, did everything else I needed to do, then went to a store. Got some more seeds as well as what I needed, then headed home.

At home, I got the fire going, and got a quick lunch. I washed the walls in the bathroom this morning, so I started cleaning the ceiling, then worked on cleaning the bathroom. Hubby came home, and wanted to use the bathroom, so I went and fed animals, then did wood. Once I came in, I finished cleaning the bathroom and did dishes.

Now I'm sitting back relaxing. I haven't eaten yet, but hubby's in the kitchen. I don't know what he's doing. If he doesn't make me some dinner, I'll be making myself something to eat when he gets done.

Y'all would have gotten a laugh if you had seen me today. I decided that I was going to do what I could to block the wind from coming into my tack shed. The tarp just wasn't working. So, I took that down. Last year, I had had a piece of Tyvek up. I had been going to trash it since it was really beat up, but had decided to keep it. So, I put that back up. I had a whole sheet plus a half a sheet of chipboard that were messed up. So, I decided I was going to cut them into strips about 4 ft by 11 in, and put them up on top of the Tyvek. Good idea, but the problem was getting them up there. I finally ended up balancing them on my head, then getting a couple of nails hammered in place. The first 3 that I put up were along the far edge, and if I hadn't done that, I would NOT have been able to get them up! Once they were in place, I put one up against the shed itself. That one I didn't need to balance! By the time I got that one up, it was time for Stormy's 2nd feeding. So, I fed him, got everything else I needed to do done and left. I have one more piece to cut, and am hoping I can get the rest of them up tomorrow.

I checked in the shed. Even though I didn't have the heat on, I could feel a difference in there. So, I think this is going to work. I don't know that I'll be spending any time in there until next week. But I think I'll finally be able to get it warm in there now.

I cleaned my kitchen this morning and part of the basement. When I got home, I brought some wood in, but didn't fill the holder. I was beat, so I crashed.

She is amazing, isn't she, tortoise!
Glad you got the shed to warm up a bit, that's a big help. If I get cold for too long its just not a good thing at all. It takes me FOREVER to warm back up again!

Same here. I haven't been posting much because I'm still having computer problems. Hubby keeps saying he's getting me a new laptop, and I'm still waiting for it. I cannot get on all of my forums w/this laptop, and am afraid that it's going to go out as well. And while I could use the main computer, I hate it.

I was able to finish getting the rest of the wood up, and even have a small, usable piece leftover, so that's in my feed stall. I don't remember if I posted that I was going away for the weekend w/my Christian motorcycle group for basically a 2 day Bible study. Hubby had talked about going w/me, but not because he wanted to spend time w/me, but so he could have a "vacation". He would have driven me nuts if he had gone.

Well, it's raining again. I didn't have time to get on on Friday. Hubby didn't go to work. He was dizzy, but doesn't know why. He also realized that w/the cold, it was not a good time for both of us to be away, so he didn't go w/me over the weekend!

I had filled the wood holder on Thursday, so I wasn't worried about him running out of wood while I was gone. But, what I didn't realize was that some of what I put in was really wet. It was so cold out that the wood all looked dry. Having the wood in like that meant that there was stuff frozen to it, so it made a mess. I was able to go in the woods yesterday and cut down a bunch of standing dead. It was well above freezing, so I could tell whether or not the wood was wet. I managed to clean up the mess from the rest and will be putting that in the garden. The majority of this wood was well seasoned black cherry. It's so much easier to get this burning.

Hubby insisted that I take his car over the weekend. I honestly didn't mind. It gets much better mileage than my truck, plus he had just filled up. Saved me some money. But, Friday was cold! I get to the farm, get everyone fed and went in my tack shed. I got the heater going, and started doing more work in there. I had the heater on low because I wasn't sure how much propane I had left. Well, I ran out. So, even though it was a bit earlier than I'd wanted to, I went ahead and fed Stormy, then left. I left my Carhartts there. Figured I didn't need them over the weekend and they'd just be in the way. The only problem w/the car was, I wasn't used to it and couldn't quite get the heat regulated properly. It wasn't too bad, but I couldn't get it to stay warm the way I can my truck. I figured I'd be able to get warm at the hotel.

I managed to find the hotel w/out too much trouble. I had missed the road, and had to turn around and go back. I get checked in, walk in my room and it was cold! Not only did they have the heat turned down, it was off! So, I had to figure out how to turn it on. And while I had planned on changing my clothes, I wasn't planning on getting a shower. I was glad about that.
I don't know how I managed to do it, but I somehow or another reserved a handicapped room. It didn't have a regular shower in it, but a roll in shower. I hated it. And, according to the website, the rooms all had fridges and microwaves. This room didn't. If I had brought food w/me, I would have been a bit upset. But, since basically all I was doing was getting a shower and sleeping in it, I didn't complain.

I went out out dinner, the food was OK, but not the greatest. If I had been going to eat more that the 1 meal out, I wouldn't have gone there again. Since I knew there were other people at the hotel there for the same reason that I was, I wore my vest. And sure enough, I had someone else come in, see the vest and join me for dinner.

Once I was done eating, I headed out for the saddle shop. I missed a turn, but would have still been OK if they hadn't had a sign down. I finally found a place to turn around and headed back the direction I came from. I didn't have to go all the way back to where I missed the turn, though. The sign that was down was for a road I knew. It's the road I normally take when I go to Lancaster, and I knew how to get to the saddle shop from there, so I got on it. Went to the saddle shop and was able to get everything I needed! I also picked up some stuff for EH.

From the saddle shop, I headed to the church. I almost went the wrong way. I had to go straight at one point in time, and out of habit, went the way I used to, but was able to get the right way w/no problem. I got there early enough to do some shopping, and I was glad. The church was having some problems w/their heater, and it was cold in there! They had a blanket for sale w/the CMA logo on it. I hadn't planned on buying a blanket, but I was cold, so I went ahead and bought it. It wasn't the biggest blanket since it was one of those fleece throws, but I was able to wrap it around me in a way that I stayed fairly warm.

By the time I got back to my room, it was warm. But, I also didn't feel like being by myself. So I went in the lobby. They had a gas fireplace, and some books. I didn't want something long to read, so I read a kid's book. Everyone else that had been at the church came in, said hi, but headed for their rooms. Can't really say I blame them. When I finished the book, I went to bed. I had to get up 2x during the night to turn down the heat. But, the bed was comfortable. And, I didn't really want to get up in the morning, but did anyway.

They had free breakfast. It wasn't the greatest, but it was OK. From there, I headed back to the church. This was where I had the most problems driving. I went a different way on Friday evening since I had come from the saddle shop. Plus, it was dark when I headed back out. I couldn't read the directions and drive at the same time. I headed the wrong way on the one road, so I had to turn around and go the other direction. Then, I missed the road I had to turn on to. It wasn't well marked coming from that direction. I was able to turn around, then missed it again since I had the sun in my eyes, so I had to turn around again. I made it to the church, and it wasn't as cold. That might have been since there were more people there, so there was more body heat.

We finished earlier than I expected, so it was still daylight out by the time I got to the farm. Got everything done, then headed home. Hubby wanted to go shopping, and the one place closed at 5:00. Since it hadn't gotten above freezing all day long, I told him to have a jug of hot water ready when I got there. I wanted to go right out and feed the animals. We made it to the one place, then did a bit of food shopping. Hubby didn't tell me that he ate all the ice cream, otherwise, I would have bought it. Instead, I went to get some ice cream last night and we didn't have any!
I don't know if it's because of this system that's moving through right now, or what, but all I want to do is sleep. I slept in on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The only reason I got up today was because of hubby going to work. I'm thinking of taking a nap at the farm. There's not too much I can do out there, so that might be a good idea.

This weather has been horrid. Its cold and wet now, which is worse than frozen and cold in my opinion.
I'm glad you had a good time away, I dislike driving when I'm not really comfortable with where I'm going. I get really freaked out that I'm going to get lost. Its a bit silly, but I'm kinda paranoid, lol.

I knew I couldn't get lost, I knew enough of the roads, but at the same time, I was glad to be heading home. I didn't have to check directions at all. The church was just off a road I knew, but in a section I hadn't driven on. But, since I knew where it went, it was no problem getting home.

I got nothing done today. I was just feeling completely wiped out. And, it was raining. CL's horses didn't come up when I fed my guys, so I decided to feed them when I gave Stormy his 2nd feeding. After I got my guys fed, I went in my shed and got on my tablet for a bit so I could look some stuff up. I had the heater going, and was able to get it up in the 50s. Then, I ran out of propane. I stuck the 2nd one in, did a bit more, then turned off the heater and took a nap. It was cold by the time I woke up, and I didn't want to get up, but I did. Got Stormy fed, got CL's horses fed, got feed bagged, got hay out, got the chickens taken care of and left. Stopped on the way home and got some ice cream and a few other things, came home, did the home animals and got some leftovers for dinner. I have to wash a load of clothes. I'm seriously thinking of going to bed once they're in they dryer.
