This is the recipe I used to convert my "store-bought only" husband and son to home-made bread. They love it!

I canned 14 quarts of sliced apples, then packed 6 more quarts in the freezer (joining the 15 quarts already in there), and made 3 apple pies with what was left.
There are still apples on the top of the tree, but even with a ladder and the picker, we can't reach them. So, unless I can come up...
I made no-sew roman shades, using a mini-blind. The blind cost $3 and the fabric cost $4. The only other thing I needed was fabric glue, and I had that on hand.
I used instructions I found here:

Here's how...
The farmer that rents our cropland just harvested the corn from one field. DS and I went out after he was finished and picked the cobs off all the stalks that were run down by the machinery when turning the corners. We got a wheelbarrow-full for the chickens this winter. There are still three...
My son installed unfinished beadboard in my kitchen, then I coated it with scrub-able paint. When I work in the kitchen, it requires a lot of scrubbing - and it's holding up very well.
I dehydrate lots of hash browns, in fact I am doing some today. The best way I have found is to cook the potatoes whole first (bake, boil or microwave), until they are not-quite done. You can get a fork into them, but you have to push. Then leave them in the refrigerator several hours until...
I'm Vickilynn, and I am a member of the MeSSy Kitchen Club.
Favorite tool: Cast iron skillet
Favorite appliance: Bosch Mixer
Shameful habit: I make bread weekly and sometimes (OK - most of the time) I don't wash the bread pans before putting them away.:hide
Best tip: Get rid of all the...
If I remember correctly from my canning class, it has to do with taking the jars out of the canner too soon. Something about moving the jars from the boiling hot water to the cooler air causes the contents to erupt.
I get mylar emergency blankets (about $3 in the camping department) and sandwich it between 2 layers of fleece or fabric cut from an old (or new) blanket to hang over windows. It really helps to keep the heat in. I even sewed one to fit over our through-the-wall air conditioner.
I'm one of those people who uses "like". I know I do it, bad habit, am trying to control it. I am a college graduate and should know better.
The one that bugs me the most is "I could care less". If someone could care less, that means they do care. What they mean to say is "I couldn't...
I want to hang laundry out, but the last few days we have been smelling smoke from the forest fire in Minnesota, and I'm afraid all the clothes will pick up that smell.
Until you get the hang of it, maybe stick to making things where the leftovers would freeze well (chili, meatloaf,...) so they could be used down the line for someone's lunch. You've taken on quite a lot! I'm sure your daughter appreciates knowing her family is taken-care-of while she's in...
Oh, I remember those days!! Heifers can get a little crazy when in heat, so be careful around her. Oh, and if I remember correctly, by the time you see bloody discharge, it's too late for breeding. The discharge should be clear.
I opened one today, and realized I had overfilled them. I've got to leave some space at the top or it gets messy. Live and learn. But straight out of the freezer, filled with homemade strawberry yogurt - it was so good! :drool
1. Cut strips about 3" wide from a foodsaver roll.
2. Seal both long sides
3. Snip off one end of the tube.
4. Fill with yogurt (I put the yogurt in a baggie and snipped a corner to fill).
5. Clean around the opening and seal.
