    Frustratedearthmother's Journaling Journey

I swear I'll never try to sell a goat again. People want them for free or they want you to pay them to take them...or something like that, lol. Few days ago I got an email asking if I would sell goats for meat. Yep - if you buy a goat from me it's yours - you can eat it if you wish. This...

    Frustratedearthmother's Journaling Journey

Heck, I wouldn't even do that much, lol. Edited my previous post. I drove 2.5 hours to watch her play. Then walked my toes off. She thought she played terribly but ended up 9th out of 90. Haven't heard how it went today. I'll check with her later.

    WHAT ARE YOU CANNING TODAY?

I need to can the rest of the extra potatoes I bought. By the time I get them done I'll probably have a years' worth of potatoes sitting in the pantry and waiting for us. Kinda nice. Will definitely do more beans too.

    Frustratedearthmother's Journaling Journey

Hole crap! I always knew I didn't really like golf. Now I'm 100% certain I don't like golf or anything associated with it! Drove 2.5 HOURS to watch my DGD play in a golf tournament today. Caught up with her team after walking a couple of miles in the wrong direction. Found her and walked...

    WHAT ARE YOU CANNING TODAY?

@Mini Horses - I used your recipe and canned some baked beans yesterday. I used navy beans, Swerve brown sugar substitute and low sugar ketchup. I had to try them last night. They are darn good! Thanks for posting that recipe, I am a fan!

cooking for a type 1 diabetic

Sure sounds like you're getting a handle on things. Glad to hear he's gained some weight and is feeling better. @FarmerJamie - that pie sounds delish! Going to have to give it a try!

cooking for a type 1 diabetic

Glad the sensor is working better now! Did they give you any suggestions on carbs per meal? I wish DH could eat pasta - it's one of the things that blows his sugar into the stratosphere. Some years back we discovered that there are some pasta alternatives, but never really found one we...

    WHAT ARE YOU CANNING TODAY?

I've got no objections to mashed potatoes, lol! Grands love them too. My original idea was to have a few 'taters to toss into a soup or stew. In those instances, DH has to be very careful about what gets ladled into his bowl.

    WHAT ARE YOU CANNING TODAY?

We don't eat a lot of potatoes around here. Because of that, if I do buy them it's quite possible that they will get nasty before we use them up. Today I noticed that 10lbs of russet potatoes at kroger were buy one, get one. I've got a load in the canner as we speak. I've canned Yukon Gold...

cooking for a type 1 diabetic

Yep! Truth there! @Chic Rustler I hate it that you're having so much trouble with the CGM. We had an occasion where a sensor was just bad. It would be off every time we calibrated. Only after calibrating it at least 4 or 5 times in one day did it get close to being right. There have...

cooking for a type 1 diabetic

CGM's are the bomb - most of the time. You've got to remember to calibrate. What system are you using? We're about to switch to an Omni system after using Medtronic for years. We try to figure carbs before meals and dose appropriately at least 15 minutes before eating - but in reality it...

cooking for a type 1 diabetic

My DH is type 1. He was diagnosed over 20 years ago as type 2, but since then his pancreas has given up and he's converted to a type 1. Definitely watch the carbs. Read everything you can. If your family member is not on a pump and a continuous glucose monitor - try to get them. There is a...

What did you do in your garden today?

Mulched, got stung by a bee and attacked by ants. I love gardening...

    What's for dinner?

Last night we had a take on Philly Cheesesteak. We did it open faced on low carb bread with caramelized onions. Tonight will be corned beef and cabbage that I bought in early March but with all the upheavel in life, I didn't get a chance to cook it until now. Soaked it for a little while in...

    Frustratedearthmother's Journaling Journey

I've been feeding the fish almost every day now. I don't see tons of action, but I see some of them come up to feed. I think the pond has decided it wants to be bigger than I originally thought it would be, lol. It'll be interesting to see how much it drops if/when we have drier weather.
