    Giant Poop Bubbles

Not to worry, said Mr. Goldstein as he stood at the edge of the manure pit, puffing on a cigarette and gazing at the bubbles glistening in the sun. I have no fear of popping them. Too funny! You just can't make this stuff up! With all that methane and his lit cigarette, I wouldn't have wanted to...

    Giant Poop Bubbles

:welcome You'd think he would have learned from this: Last year, a hog farmer in Hayfield, Minn was launched 40' into the air in an explosion caused by methane gas from a manure pit on his farm. He sustained burns and singed hair.

    Good still?

Many on Seedsavers Exchange plant out old seeds. If they send seeds older than 2 years they recommend planting thickly. Svalbard Global Seed Vault is saving all seeds in definitely: http://www.regjeringen.no/en/dep/lmd/campain/svalbard-global-seed-vault.html

    Paid Our Taxes Today

Sweet! Everything little bit helps! I had been posting about energy credits but not this-good to know. I'll pass it along to friends. I don't know if you used a real estate agent; they should have told you about it, I would think.

    electrolites?

Hyperthyroid can play havoc with the heart, like brief episodes of racing. I had it for awhile and I did the same as you describe using slow deep breaths to get it back under control. It eventually got beyond my ability to control it and I ended up taking some low dose medication for 6 mo. If...

    Wild leeks and "ramps" recipes

Great subject! I use ramps for creamy leek potato soup. I like them raw when hiking. Over the years I have planted many on my property in the rich woodland soil adjacent to the creeks. They are slow to multiply which gives me great appreciation for the ancient age of the large drifts that...

    Ways to start a fire

I've seen Survivorman using magnesium and something. I'll have to re-watch that. In our geographical area there is river/yellow birch that has a papery loose bark that is an excellent fire starter. When I see it in the woods I collect a bit and keep in my hiking pack. It will ignite if wet...

    Big lots fruit trees

$14 at our Big Lots. I bought a MacIntosh apple and an Anjou pear. They are very nice looking trees. There were 3 varieties of pear, 2 of apple, 1 plum, 1 peach. No nut trees. I doubt that they were picked over already. Nice balled trees, not bare root which is what weren't surviving for me. :fl

What did you do to save $ today?

Through absolute necessity I found that I could empty my used paper vacuum bag and reuse it instead of buying a new package of them. I also found that I could do this many times before it fell apart! Wish I knew this years ago. Be cheaply gone, you dust bunnies! :bun

    $0 Ideas (Create a SS Tip Sheet/Pamphlet)

Solar pop/ beer can heater and rocket stoves are cheap and a hit with the guys and adventurous ladies. The topics are discussed on here. Hard to put a price on those, but I built my pop can heater for $3 because I had scrounged all the materials except the paint. Definitely under $100 if...
