So if you see some coming from the other direction you try and pull off and let them pass or if you don’t see anyone coming till it’s to late you hope you both can stop in time?

Something like that, yes! There are loads of "pull over" places alongside these small roads and driveways to pull into to let people pass. As for speed, well, we don't do the speed limit on those roads. With tractors etc on those roads, it would be suicide. I generally do about 1/2 or a 1/3 of the posted speed limit, which allows me plenty time to brake if needed.

We got up yesterday morning to Garda blocking the roads into and out of the village and putting down traffic cones. Quickly found out why… This one had to go through the village:

It's part of a new wind turbine they are putting up a few miles from here. Now, as you all know our roads are not exactly wide… Turning a regular truck without an abnormal load here is tricky enough! The driver of this monster had to pull down my street, stop, raise the blade, then carefully reverse around the corner to get down the road leading out of the village. DS told me he ended up having to reverse a few miles with his load.

On the right here you can see the Ladbrokes sign (red). That's where he had to go next. They had to take down all the phone lies across the junction for this manoeuvre. I saw them stringing them back up this morning, when I walked down to the school with DS.

I must say kudos to the driver of the truck. I find it nerve wrecking enough to drive a car through these villages! lol

Eeek... But gas is $5.61 a gallon in Ireland.

Your government does what they can to keep the gas price low for you guys! Nearly everything else here, from property, to food, to healthcare is much cheaper than in the States though, so I'm not complaining!

Gas prices is at it's highest in the price range here at the moment. In a few weeks or months it may be down to 1.32 per litre at the cheaper filling stations. We paid 1.42 in Waterford yesterday.

Well not really it depends on which party is in power. I recall the Dems saying we could stand $5.00 a gallon for gas. Which ofcourse received massive push back.

You have to realize that Ireland is 1/2 the size of the state I live in Illinois. Then we have 49 more states to go. So we love our cheap gas and honestly we need cheap gas because we drive a lot!
