Picture Of The Week (POW) Information & Submissions

I do too! We have 4 Brahmas and I’m hoping to add 3-4 more because they are the only ones not full of frostbite from all the wind! Our red sex links are having trouble. 😕
Same, ours have no frostbite but our Leghorn is having some trouble for sure. Our Barred Rock is doing well as, if that is an option for you.

I thought about Dominique hens because of the smaller comb, but you really can’t beat that tiny pea comb can ya?
They are so sweet. Rugger was mad because I wasn’t there to visit her for a few days. Little did she know I was giving birth LOL!

I had Dominiques and I LOVED them! They are not excellent layers if you’re looking for high production, and the Roos are major jerks, but the hens are calm, sweet, hardy and excellent mothers. They’re lovely birds. Only chickens I ever cared much for 🤣

Now I want more… no. No birds for me! 😂

Some years back I was moving some chickens around. I picked up a rooster and immediately felt a huge lump on his chest. I turned him upside down and could see the swelling. There was something hard inside the lump. I went and got DH and some tools. I managed to grab the "hard thing" with some needle nose pliers and pulled. There was a big ol' spur from another rooster that had broken off in this rooster's chest. I looked around and sure enough there was a one-spurred rooster running around. They both lived...at least for a little while longer, lol.

I love when my neighbors cows decide to bust through the fence and cut the grass in the orchard. Sometimes they leave ‘gifts’ behind as well.
Congrats @Medicine Woman - your pic is this week's POW winner and is featured on our homepage. Please keep them coming.

Before I turn in these recycle items maybe I can get some groceries out of them via hydroponics 🤷‍♀️
