Roz is wary of the strange sounds in the camper (from stuff bring moved around), but she's a big fan of the camper couch. She slept in there for a couple hours, and I had to drag her out at bedtime. Good spoiled doggie!

Her family has been told that we are "spoiling" and "ruining" her. :D They visited last week with their kids and dogs. They are building new dog runs so they can separate the three young dogs (including Roz) because there's too much competition between them. One of their dogs is bossy and possessive and beats up on the others. That seems to be the cause of most of Roz's behavior problems at their place.

I was tempted to sleep in the camper tonight, but I didn't get all the bedding washed. I pulled my favorite summer blanket out of storage and it didn't smell right so I had to wash it.

I'm still debating what to do with my chicken coop. I want eggs. I also want a rabbit and/or kitten. Rabbit and/or kitten would require modifying the coop. I want to do it, but I don't think I'm capable of doing it without DH's help. I would like to divide the coop and run. That would allow for chickens + rabbit, or two breeding groups of chickens. (I like both ideas a lot!). No matter what I do, the run needs repairs and a new door.

I'm warming up to the idea of digging a deep trench around my run and laying down hardware cloth to keep rats out (or a rabbit in).

to keep things from digging in angle the hardware cloth outwards. animals can't figure it out that they need to go back further to dig under. inwards digging out i can't help much with that other than saying i really like the raised cage versions i've seen where the poops can fall right through instead.

I'm getting chickens on Friday. 🤩

Yesterday a lamb knocked a gate down, got his leg stuck in it and broke his leg. It looked awful - I thought he was headed to freezer camp. DH set it and was surprised it was so stable he didnt think a splint was necessary! We moved the lamb, his momma and another ewe/lamb pair into a smaller pen and pasture. 🤞

P.S. the lamb that broke its leg a while back made a complete recovery in 3 weeks with a splint. Those babies grow/heal fast!

awesome! what kinds of chickens?! are you getting them from a local breeder or a private party? I have been looking to add to my flock but haven't found any that I just have to have, plus I don't have a quarantine spot yet. I have a wire dog cage that I can add a roost to for a short period (like a week) but I don't know where to put it as I don't want it just out in the yard.

I think it's a breeder - they have a lot of breeds and ages available. I'm shopping for a silkie trio and some orphingtons... but ya never know what I will come home with! :gig

DS15 washed and I sheared the show wether. He doesn't look too bad for a spring lamb on pasture. I can't say grassfed because they had access to creep feed for a month or two while pasture came in, and DS15 uses grain for training treats.

Wool ewe lamb is up next.
