My first time posting coop pictures. I shoulda taken them when the whitewash was fresh This shows the new kenel panels I used to divide my coop. The foreground area will be for 2 silkies and chicks - maybe 2 seramas. The background area is for 6 lavender orpingtons. And a blue frizzle americauna

I need to add a perch on the left side. Dang birds roost on the top of the nest boxes

There is a door to the run on each side! The run is divided too, but it's ugly. no pics!

Just curious why I see so many coop interiors that are painted white. Sure seems to me they won't stay white very line with chickens in them.

I paint mine white,, it lets me see when there is any mildew on the ceiling, it also helps reflect/ brighter in winter, I think too in our very wet area it helps protect the wood.

Good question. Previously, I had painted my coop inside white too. Never really thought about it until I saw your question.

Then it hit me - my grandfather white washed the interior of most of his animal related outbuildings, coop, milk cooler building, etc. So I just did it without really thinking about it. Lol

It's whitewash. It has some parasite prevention. (I don't know how much.) It's hydrated lime, salt and water. It mixes up to the consistency of pancake batter and slap it over the sh*t. Really gives the 2nd definition of whitewashed "concealing unpleasant facts about someone or something" some context!!!

I like that it reflects light. I started whitewashing lambing pens in my barn to improve the lighting
