    Dawn419 & doc's LSTA: Confounded Computer!!!

That is a neat rabbit shelter/shed/lean-to! Glad to hear that humanure doesn't stink. Luckily my fiance is not opposed to the idea!

Is it financially worth it to buy a meat grinder

I got an enterprise meat grinder on ebay ~$50 but I was able to use the paypal option (no interest if paid in full in 6 months) so you can try that if you don't want to plop down $50 right away. I love that thing! Heavy duty, and only needed a wash. It is definitely worth it if you find one used.

I think that's where all the wind went.... Usually it is super windy here. Last weekend I was driving my dinky little car, going about 65 past a truck hauling stuff...boy that truck combined with the wind made my car move side to side - almost lost control!! I am just craving for a place...

    Cleaning Cast Iron pans ?

Someone told me that I could use Pepsi or Coca Cola to clean an old cast iron pan. Well, that thing looked terrible and was probably 20 years old. I bought a Lodge from Target for around $20, and I was frustrated that it wasn't getting seasoned properly. I was using olive oil after every wash...

    Reliabe Non-GMO Seed supplier?

My fiance spent the Christmas $ he received from various relatives on seeds from Southern Exposure. Their customer service was great, the shipping was fast...and their catalog is extensive. Also, a lot of seeds for less money. We got many varieties and types for around $50.

Had it with my bank! What are some alternatives?

Agree with dfr1973; I don't know if the credit union did a credit check on me. I have done a lot of bank switching in the past few years..a couple of bad experiences. But you should go check out the local credit union anyway. The one I went to - the people there were already much nicer and I...

Had it with my bank! What are some alternatives?

I just recently switched to a credit union because my job qualifies for their program...and I switched from one of the worst big banks, too. I had gotten slapped with "low balance" fees (Wasn't even "low" IMO!!) so I had enough. Now the credit union I'm with gives free checking if you do one of...

How many grind your own flour and where do you buy the grains?

I have been using a Victorio hand crank grain mill. It was a gift (I think it was ~$60) but so far it has been great. I do not grind my flour all the time..sometimes I do miss just all-white all purpose flour, but I do like to use half and half now. I get my wheat from either the natural foods...

    For the Michiganders...

My fiance was born in Iron Mountain and I didn't know what a pasty was until I met him. Then I said, "Don't you mean paste-y?" :lau He got a kick out of that one. But I tasted one when he took me up there and I LOVE IT. Then I ate one from Toni's Country Kitchen in Calumet or Laurium, whichever...

Question for all UPers in Michigan

Since my post on this thread we have started looking at land in Ontonagon county, particularly one near Ewen. It's across from huge hayfields and it's 10 acres. There have been some nights I lost sleep on this issue because I'm torn between trying to get a mortgage (which we don't want to do)...

    The humanure thread

I don't like thinking about excrement (much less my own in fact) or being around it but I really don't like thinking about where that excrement goes and why it's not being put to good use. If I can use my livestock's poop as manure then I should try to do that with my own; but that's just me and...

What did you do to save $ today?

;) I just eye stuff lol, especially if it's not baking, I don't want to dirty my little teaspoon and have to wash it. Ok, for a 1/2 lb for peanuts I used 2 T. of pure honey and about 2 T. of canola oil. I'd like to use sunflower oil or even coconut oil but I didn't have those on hand and I...
