Can a green house save you money?

One of the guys I work with was talking about using a waste oil burner to heat his shop, I bet that could work for a green house.

    Double Dip Recession?

The raised gardens work real well for me, where we live there are granite boulders the size of mini-vans about 6 inches under the surface in alot of places:lol: and the potato size ones get stuck between the tines on a tiller. My daughter and I are looking for some older logging harness for her...

    Double Dip Recession?

We are trying very hard here to buy local and American. It is so depressing to go to the stores and check labels- especially clothing-everything is made in Thialand, Mexico ect. At the grocery the other day i was thrilled when I saw a can of Cambells soup with Made in America on the front...

What did you do to save $ today?

I've been trying real hard to save all Summer by planting veggies, clipping coupons only buying on sale, I bought a bolt of fabric for 42.00 and have been making new pants for work, I usually spend about that much for two pair and 20 yards can make me about 10 if I watch how I'm cutting. A...

Poll (just curious): do you save, budget, or just hope?

I wish I could save enough to pay for big purchases, it seems like we live paycheck to paycheck of course all my animals are to blame.:/ But I just keep trying and I figure one of these days it will sink in that the simple life is the way we need to go.:)

Very nice beds. I am planning on using the pvc pipe and some old sheets for row covers this fall, and planting some root crops to over winter. We will see if it works.:/

    How is the weather?

I'm a bit further south, Tacoma area I think we hit 60 about an hour ago and the rain isn't coming sideways anymore.:D I stepped out the back of my barn yesterday and almost lost one of my muck boots the mud was so deep. But I'm glad it's not 80 with no wind and skeeters bigger than dragon...

Just getting started - Newbie alert :) (2 new questions p9)

Yep the weather is pretty wet up here in the Great N.W, I've been pretty lucky everything I have planted has come up, nothing has damped off yet. I don't do Tomatos yet, some of my friends have put tom's in and are talking about them yellowing and dying off. I could do with some dry days...

What did you do to save $ today?

Wow I'm in awe of how much you all do to save money and live better. Where do you get recepies for laundry soap and all that? I would really like to get away from so much store bought stuff. Any Ideas on where I could get a grain mill that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

Just getting started - Newbie alert :) (2 new questions p9)

Yep I just smile and keep on doing what I enjoy, but it sure is amazing how everyone loves not having to pay $3.00 a dozen for eggs after they laughed at me for buying chickens. I've been talking about getting a milk goat lately (lot's of head shaking on that one) but I'm still undecided. We...

Just getting started - Newbie alert :) (2 new questions p9)

Hi, I'm a real newbie, I guess I've been reading for a couple of weeks. Reading what you all are saying helps me get past the discouraging words my family and friends keep saying, and hopefully will keep me on track with the path I'm trying to take.:/
