Stevia / alternate sweeteners recipes ?

Yes it is the glycerite one. Allstarhealth.com . The price is 11.59 for 8oz. 13.79 for the pure (non glycerite). But that's before shipping charges. If you buy just one 8oz bottle, it will come to 19.74 . Still less than what you are paying. You would need to order a few other things to make up...

Stevia / alternate sweeteners recipes ?

freemotion, I paid about $12 for 8oz of liquid stevia. And I expect it to last a long time. The stevia is affordable enough. But not consistent enough for banking. Thanks, but will skip the honey, even more calories than sugar ... Stevia is fine for drinks. Just not suitable for baking. Even...

Stevia / alternate sweeteners recipes ?

I don't have problems with BP or obesity, at least not at this time. My weight is higher than I would like, though but BMI is 25 which is considered OK. I have a very sweet tooth and I know too much sugar is not healthy. I may try to use half real sugar and half erythritol in recipes.

Which bread flour do you use ? Any organic bread recipes ?

sunsaver, Thanks. I don't use self-rising and don't plan to. I bought some separate yeast and I have plenty. I don't think I could ever have the patience for your recipe. The preparation in my bread machine takes about 5 minutes to measure the ingredients and put them in the machine. Then I...

Stevia / alternate sweeteners recipes ?

Yes, unfortunately that's what I paid for 1lb of NOW erythritol. And that was before shipping which made it close to $10 (I had a few other items on the order). It is really too much . Sugar at costco is 65 cents/lb in 50 lb bags. This is 15x more expensive. I'm all for making healthy recipes...

Which bread flour do you use ? Any organic bread recipes ?

I just took delivery of a Zojirushi mini bread maker on tuesday. I have made 2 loaves so far. They came out fairly good. I am using some King arthur flour from safeway. Both the "bread flour" and the "all purpose" as indicated in the recipes I have tried so far. These are not so cheap, at about...

Stevia / alternate sweeteners recipes ?

Last week I bought some Stevia liquid, powder and some xylitol and erythritol powders as well. So far, I tried to make a sorbet with a tiny bit of the liquid in my ice cream machine. It was a disaster. It had no consistency, unlike sorbets that are made with real sugar. Is there any way stevia...

Making and freezing home made yogurt, freezing milk

Hi, Thanks, that's very helpful ! If I can keep the milk for 2 months, and the starter cultures for at least as long, that should reduce the need to frequently buy more milk. I think I would just try to thaw it in the fridge. Have you ever tried to freeze your own homemade yogurt and it eat...

Making and freezing home made yogurt, freezing milk

Hi, I assume you mean for drinking. I don't drink milk. After thawing it in the fridge and boiling it to make yogurt, would the texture actually matter ? Wouldn't it have changed by that time ? What I am wondering is how much longer the milk could keep frozen, vs the expiration date on the...

Home made ice cream, sorbet, frozen yogurt

Hi, I am often sick when eating out as well. I have never really managed to identify which foods specifically make me sick. But I have identified some restaurants and know how to avoid them. I think that is a bit too hard core for me. But something to consider...

Making and freezing home made yogurt, freezing milk

Hi, I don't expect it to be like store bought. So far my experiences with ice cream and sorbets have been very good - I like the taste of my homemade stuff much better than the store bought. I made some really delicious chocolate ice cream last thursday night. 1.5qt. With some guittard...

Making and freezing home made yogurt, freezing milk

moolie, Thanks! I guess I will try it. 3 months should be OK. Thanks. Doesn't seem all that positive, Stonyfield still says to use the product by the "best by" date. I don't see the point of freezing in that case, might as well keep it in the fridge. As for "seeing how it goes", I would prefer...

Home made ice cream, sorbet, frozen yogurt

Hi, Well, as I mentioned, not all of the Costco trips are food. I get my data from quicken and it's by payee. But some costco trips may be other products like cleaners, furniture, even electronics sometimes. It's hard to say what portion of it is actually food. The trader joe's trips are only...

Making and freezing home made yogurt, freezing milk

I want to avoid regular grocery store trips so looking for the milk sale is not really a good option for me. Even milk on sale and 3 days left before expiration at safeway was still more expensive than costco with 10 days left, buying 2 gallons at a time. I looked into buying powdered milk. But...
