    How do you conserve water?

I'm in Northern California and it usually rains quite a bit here in the winter, but we've had 84 degree whether in January. And it was hot for about 2 weeks. Everything started budding, like it was spring. It finally rained last week! And we had frost :( We have rain barrels and I put buckets...

    Beekeeping...for those interested!

I keep the hive. A co-worker of mine wished he would have known about him because he spent over $400 on a hive and over $100 for bees and queen. He's taking classes, but mentioned it would be nice to have an experienced beekeeper with you throughout the seasons. Granted, he may have bought a...

Oh...and he also brings an extra suit along for you. This way you don't have to buy gear until you're ready.

    Beekeeping...for those interested!

I'm in Northern California...about 60 miles north of San Francisco. He maintains many hives all over the area. He gives a discount if you're 20 miles from where he's already maintaining a hive.

    Beekeeping...for those interested!

I had mentioned in an earlier post that I was going to wait until next spring so I can research. There was a craig's list post from a beekeeper. See article: http://www.moremarin.com/buzzhome/2008/10/where-are-the-h.html It's $570. He supplies the hive, bees, maintaining and training for 1...

Can I do a wart remover challenge? :)

I had one on my finger when I was about 16. Vitamin E 2x day and in a few weeks, I looked down and it was gone. The vitamin E was great because it's clear and doesn't turn white like the store bought wart remover. My friend's aunt is the one that told me about the vitamin E.

    Beekeeping...for those interested!

Very sad...from what I understand, most of the bee crisis is because of california. It was eeiry 2 years ago when I didn't see any bees in my garden. They finally started appearing last summer. This is when I became interested in becoming a bee keeper. We have a lot of wineries in my area, but...

    Beekeeping...for those interested!

I would love to be a bee keeper. We went to a scion exchange for rare fruit growers this past Saturday. They had supplies for bee keeping for sale and you can order bees. We're just getting into chickens so my boyfriend wants me to wait until next year for bees (I think he's hoping I'll forget...

Plastic bags . .what do you do?

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'll do that too! I can just put the produce in my canvas bags and then unload them at the counter. They can just go right back into the canvas.

Plastic bags . .what do you do?

I wash them and hang them on an empty wine bottle. I wish I could get away from using them in the produce section. Any ideas?
