Actually, there might be a connection between how you're feeling and drinking kombucha. When the good bacteria's starts killing off excess yeast overgrowth in the gut it can cause a detox reaction (Herxheimer Effect) and it will make you feel crummy for a few days or sometimes longer depending...
I am just new to this so I have no experience to base anything on, but will agree, based on my reading, that if your scoby is growing real, honest to goodness, fuzzy mold then chuck it and start anew with a fresh one. I am in New Mexico and would gladly ship you a scoby once I have a batch or...
I did use RO water to rinse them in, so there should be no harm done. I am glad to know that the thin scoby's are more than able to do the job. Do I discard the spent mother or throw that in too?
and I have a question for anyone who has been doing this for a while.
Today was the first official taste testing of my first batch of Kombucha Tea. I am happy to say that it turned out wonderfully and I am anxious to start my next batch. Except that my new baby scoby's are rather thin and...
I think the words:
She Always Had To Take It From Simple To Pain In The Arse
will be engraved on my tombstone. lol
I have a feeling that the initial start up of container gardening will be a bit labor intensive, but worth while in the long run. Doing it right will be integral to its success...
Pat, you (as Andy Taylor would say) are a caution to the jay bird! You crack me up.
All of these are excellent ideas. I am thinking pallets maybe would work, propped up on the sunny side of the containers and your idea of using stuffed feed bags is inspired!
You've really got me thinking!
So something as simple as painting the outside of the black container with Kilz to make them reflect heat isn't going to do much.
I am wondering if I put a smaller container inside a larger one with a layer of soil insulation between the two might help?
You mentioned "jackets." Other than...
The containers are not cracked at all. In fact, I am using a large one as a horse waterer. Thanks for both of the links! I plan to check them out after the kids are in bed.
It sounds amazing!
I would love suggestions for GF cookbooks. I borrowed one from the library by Rebecca Reilly it was fantastic. I plan to order it from amazon soon.
I do get wonderful ideas from GF blogs too, but I don't have any cook books yet. Do you make your own baking mixes etc?
(Hmmmmm, might need to...
He may just be addicted to it! I know I am/was. This marks my second week gluten free and I am amazed that wheat is found in so many things.
My eldest daughter (adopted from Vietnam) is also joining me on this GF journey. (Actually the whole house is...they just don't know it yet!) She is...
You know, I thought about raising them so I wouldn't have to bend over....but I figure I can always bring along a chair and sit while I weed!
I have to remind myself all the time that things could be much worse. :D Healthy family, a DH who is my sweetest and dearest friend, lots of kids and...
Wow, I am getting lots of great feedback. I do have some old burlap coffee bean bags, that I brought home one time figuring I could do something with them....now I know what! I am going to use Bubblingbrooks wood idea too, gotta read and understand that, more.
Anything that keeps moisture...
Yes, I plan to. I wasn't sure what it meant....I think I have an idea now (went and looked at your blog), but it is intriguing and I will be investigating! lol
They aren't too terribly tall, just about the top of my thighs, so bending at the waist will be how I weed, etc...
Good point about...
