Cute kitty!. DD has a cat that is just tiny. Everyone thinks she is a youngster, but she is 10 years old!

My goat Flower tends to jump up on me, when I have food. I have always dicouraged this, and the other day she got mein the head with her hooves. Man it hurt! I think I am going to use the spray bottle training on her. I really need to find my litle spray bottle. It worked great on the dog. Since goats hate water so much, it should work wll on Flower. We got little Bud to stop bucking us, by squirting him with the garden hose, just once!!!

There is nothing like having a good dog! Ours was a foster and she is just the perfect dog for our farm and family. I did have to do some training. Especially along the lines of "no chickens are NOT squeaky toys and you are not allowed to chase them, shake them and get the squeaker out!!!" But once we got that across (after loosing one chicken, nearly loosing our special rooster and a third sufferig a minor injury), she now helps protect the chickens. And everything else on our place. And she goes gagga over all babies, soo cute! We tell her to go watch the baby and she doesn't know wether to watch the chicks, the buckling or grandson!

Is it me, or is Scruff giving the camera quite the evil eye? :gig

She is a cute little thing though....despite her having mastered withering looks and all...

oh she's a firecracker all right, WZ.. you can just tell by the look in her eye
;-)

FD - you said it... we just love a hard workin' dog

Abi - Scruff and Amira can be pals!

Aggie - I was wondering what you thought of the whole thing.. I think Jenna must have panicked... or more likely it just all happened really fast. even more of a reminder to mind your P's and Q's....and because that incident seemed to be accidental (panicked sheep) - can you imagine what would happen if a ram went after her!?!? zoikes!

Free - the prodigal son for sure! ha! anyone would be lucky to feast with your pigs! i havent been in with the porkers since one bopped me with his nose and i got a perfect muddy imprint of his snout. the next time i'll be in with them is on Their Special Day *OFG dreams of bacon.....*

SD - you said it.. i only needed to train Ti that it was ok to NOT to hold back when commanded, especially when we ride into battle. we remember what you said when we first got Kai - that she doesnt need any training for her 'hell yeah' so we're just letting her develop it. of course.... all three of them nerdnicks were in trouble when they went charging off after "something" and they ended up tree-ing the barn cat...... that Bandit - she's the business alright! i just couldnt imagine having a dog thats as useless as a cat... oh just kiddin' Nicholas!!! bring momma another mouse!

;-)

* groggily OFG opens journal scrolls thru... nodding... yep.... see's Free's poodle-killin'-machine, spits coffee all over computer*

WOW Free now thats a dog. um... i've never seen a masculine lookin' poodle before - thats Gunner, right? with a rat at his feet!?!?

that'll do, dog, that'll do.

Kai says she could kill a rat too - in fact today she terrorized one of the cat's toys. she's very tough. your pup would be a fool for her booty shakin' curly tail.
;-)

so today is all about rain rain rain and more rain followed by periods of rain with more rain on the side.

as i was ripping out some of the tomatoes yesterday i found an interesting find.... PURPLE tomatillos! someone gave me a few plants and the fruits are purple! can you imagine?!?!? so i want to make some verde sauce.. but its not going to be green. hum. ... "morado" sauce? how fun is that?

i'm still wow'd by all the chicken fat we got from those meats. and the liver. i have liver "pate" made from the other nite's supper on toast this morning. that will put hair on your chest for sure. yum-O... i love liver for sure. in the wurst way. (couldnt help myself, sorry)

yesterday we were in civilization and went to the restaurant supply store! i scored a "use it and toss it" frying pan and a couple more ladles and such. i really wanted another stainless pan.. but they were all over $50!!!! i couldnt sworn i got a better deal on that before.

we decided, again, that one day soon we were gonna go into the big city to their farmers market. but man - its such a drive. the farmers market in the town closest to us is so ridiculous. filled with a bunch of weirdos and mean spirited people... with a few folks who are actually trying to make it work. i'd love to be able to sell some extra produce there but the regulations, liability, and the freaks who are the vendors are just prohibitive. our orchard friends were telling us about the goings on.

the vendors, under the laws and by laws, threw one of the gals out last year. i have to say - she was a piece of work - even i noticed her. she sold jams and such and was one of those loud and vulgar people who make me look like a choir boy. i'm not kidding one day she was wearing a rude tshirt - something that I wouldnt even say... on the "kids day." so they gave her the boot (for a lot of reasons). now she is suing the NEW market prez (who had nothing to do with the decision) for lack of income!!!

i'm telling you - its just insane. i'd love to make a business out of this place but wow. it seems you cant win for loosing.

anyway i've been thinking about this b/c i have a ton of "kung pao" peppers - like TONS of them - they are pretty much the only thing that grew well this year. i'd love to sell them somehow. i guess i'll try and list them on CL.

anyway - thats the word here.

hey is it friday!?!? really! yay!

:)

It is a total shame you can't sell at the local market. There is one right by my house i could easily sell at IF the garden had cooperated this year. The only thing i have in excess is fresh herbs and NOBODY around here knows how to cook with them!
