So glad to hear from you, it had been a while and I was getting worried that something had happened! Sad to read about the trees, but I guess you'll have some lovely firewood next year when it's all dry. Pup is beautiful!

:hugs Hope you feel better soon!

Yesterday started docs' 3 days off, so we sat out by the fire pit for the evening and enjoyed the stars, the peaceful brak of noise from the summer-time bugs, a gazillion stars and each others company! :love Been quite awhile since we've had a "date night"!:gig

Didn't get anything accomplished in the garden department, like I'd planned, but it's not going anywhere and neither am I. ;) Glad I didn't do what I had planned as doc brought up adding the hardwood ash from the firepit to the garden when we add the humus/manure/potting soil mix. This way, I'm only turning the soil once...work smarter, not harder...right? ;)

But, I hauled in the first (of many) loads of downed/dead wood so Cheyenne and I both got some good exercise.I think she puts in about 10 miles for every 50 steps that I take! :gig And I'll be using that to my advantage with her training. She's a stubborn little cuss and it hasn't helped that I hadn't been feeling good, either. The new plan is to take her for a good walk, then spend a bit of time training when we come back in from that.

Speaking of walks...she and I ventured back to the ginseng patch and it was as I feared...not a plant in sight. :( I knew I was pushing it, timing wise, when I planted it later in the season and then add the phenomenal drought and heat this year and it equaled a sad equation. Not giving up on the project though and will be getting more seed in a few weeks and get it planted on time this year.

Doing our "civilized visit at moms later today and will stop by her store and grab at least another half dozen bags of the humus/manure mix for the gardens!

Well, gonna get off of here and get myself to bed! :frow

Spending the night watching the stars is a great date night. I wish we could see them well here. Bleeping street lights. :rant

:fl I hope the ginseng recovers. :fl

I was still up when you posted that! :gig

What a "civilized" visit we had yesterday! The darling cat peed on the bed, so we had to strip the whole thing down. :rant The "bed" consists of 2 small camper seat matresses that are probably every bit as old as the Broke Down Palace ('75) so we use spare blankets and sleeping bags for extra padding. Laundry consisted of 3 loads of padding/sheets/blankets and 1 of clothes. :th Our usual laundry consists of our clothes and then adding what mom has sitting around to make it a full load. :/

So, we unloaded the Buicktruck full of laundry, got the first load washing and then made a quick trip into Cave City to make the humus/manure purchase from moms' store. Doc bought me 10 bags, I only asked 6! :celebrate After that little purchase, I know he loves me because I'm so high maintenance! :gig

Got back to moms, had dinner with dad (mom had Awana at church), cleaned up when we finished and went out to sit on the deck since the weather has been cooler...and I continued the laundry mission. :/

Switched laundry over then went back out and took the dogs for a short walk. Got back and switched out laundry.

It was just starting to get dark after switch-a-roo #2, so I decided to get the fish tank maintenance out of the way. All went well there and I went back outside for a bit to give doc and dad some harrassment for a bit. :D

Went in after a bit and called my Granny (in TN) as I didn't call her on our last visit as there was lightning going on (but no rain). She and a friend a hoping to come out and visit soon and she asked me if I needed a few days warning to get the place cleaned up...told her she better give me a years notice. :gig She then proceeded to give me a HUGE compliment and said that she tells everyone that asks about me that I'm the happiest person she knows. :D This "kid" has "nothing" (in her eyes/opinion) but I'm always so positive/happy/upbeat whenever we talk...is it true or am I lying to her? :gig Granny, Granny, Granny...I'm finally living on my OWN place, doing what I love...yeppers, it's the truth! :D

Mom gets back home about the time I'm getting off the phone. I'm thinking that it's getting better as I'm almost finished with laundry. We go outside and she asks if I'd checked the lights on the saltwater tank. :th She told me when we got there that they didn't come on at all the night before but were back on last night (they're on a timer). We go back in, I turn off the salt tank light and decide to clean the salt creep off of it, as a just-in-case. Bring the light back inside and WHAM...the light ain't working now. :somad Messed with it and called doc in for a rescue...just in case I was holding my mouth wrong...he can't get it working, either. Yay...not!

Now, for a positive on this light...we just realized that it may be nothing more than a blown light tube and not the ballist like we suspected at first! :fl The light fixture is from a tank of our first official aquarium maintence biz clients' old saltwater refugium, so it's not really suprising that their could be some problem with the ballists but a light fixture will be so much less work, to fix. ;)

Took the light off of the 60 gallon freshwater hexagon tank to use as a replacement on the salt tank, for the time being. The hex is a low-light tank (as opposed to the salt) so it will be okay for the time being. ;) Mom loves the tanks and was so worried that she needed to alot time for switching the light back and forth between the two of them, so I let her know not to even worry herself with that...the hex will be fine. Won't be suprised if she comes up with some kind of supplemental light for the hex, though, but I truly hopes she doesn't bother. ;)

Finished the last load of laundry (as in dried and folded) right at midnight. She thanked us several times for catching hers and we think it's funny as we can't thank her enough for being able to do our laundry there and grabbing real showers there and enjoying honest to goodness family dinners and quality time with them! :love

Well, did I ramble or what??? :gig Making up for lost time....that's my excuse and I'm stickin' to it! ;)
