Why, Thank You, Deb! :hugs I thoroughly enjoyed it and doc asked me several times if I was writing a book! :gig

Had a lazy day, today...but docs' week off is just around the corner and we'll more than make up for it then! ;)

Got some awesome news this afternoon...our adopted son/little brother/best friend from TN is planning on coming out to visit next weekend! :celebrate That gives me plenty of time to get the Palace cleaned up. We don't have any big plans...I figure he'll be just as happy to get out here and chillaxin' at our place as opposed to getting out and doing anything.

Poor doc got so frustrated today...he stopped at WallyWorld and went in through the main door down near the garden center. Lo and behold...there's a pallet mostly full of the same sized bag and brand of the humus/manure mix that we bought from mom's store. The only difference was that it was a dollar cheaper! Now this may seem mean but gonna do it anyways... :gig

Mom has been going through pictures and it getting together photo albums for all of us kids (there's 6 of us...me, 2 half sisters, 1 step sis and 2 step brothers). She had thrown some away as she didn't think any of us would want them. So, I dug them back out and brought a nice little stack of them home with me and am going to use them as blackmail pix. I'm really kidding, but I do plan on having some fun with them! :gig

So many cool memories...being a kid at the Thoroughbred farm in Medford, NJ (got my first black eye when I was so busy with one of the mares that was mouthing my hair that I walked into the closing gate...the trip to MO when I was in the 4th grade and pointing out to my family that they were not horses but Missour Mules (at Silver Dollar City) and playing in the woods on the property out there when we saw our first Elk and was scared because "it was no normal deer like we have at home", pix of my step uncles dairy farms...loved going to visit them and hanging out with the cousins to play kick-the-can and having cow rodeos (until the cow got smart and ran through the blooming thistles to get rid of us :gig )...

Well, the trip down memory lane has me rambling again but I've thoroughly enjoyed it and hope you did, too. :D

I love reading your "rambles" and your stories take me back to my own childhood, reminding me to revisit my own stories with my girls. :)

Not a whole lot going one here except that we've been getting light, soaking rain (off and on) since yesterday! :celebrate The temperature has been fantastic, too, mid 70's for highs and mid 50's for lows. Soaking rain + cooler temps = huge relief!

I've been messaging back-n-forth with our friend from TN and it's official...he'll be leaving TN this coming Thursday for a visit! We can't wait!!! He had moved back up North a couple years before we bought this place. About a month before we made our move out here, he calls and lets us know he's back home in TN. Talk about a bittersweet moment. :/ That moment will be blanced out though as he'll be here to help us celebrate year #3 of us moving here! :celebrate

Anywho, we're glad he didn't come out earlier (due to the heat) as the weather during his time out here is going to be in the 70's still. He was going to bring his tent out with him and we both laughed and told him not to bother as there's no area free of rocks for him to set it up at. :gig

I should be cleaning but I'm waiting for a break in the rain so that I can go get some empty boxes from up at the real shed. Tomorrow, I'll break out the shop-vac and give the place a good vacuuming from top to bottom (that just might make it snow :gig ).

We plan to, dl! :D

Wow, it's still raining lightly here and we're up for more over the next several days...making up for lost time, isn't it? :gig Between yesterdaay and this afternoon, there was a half inch in the rain gauge.

Had a very productive afternoon! Got critters fed and watered between the rain drops and started cleaning the Palace. The front third of her is cleaned up and looking quite spiffy, if I do say so myself! Doc came in from work and said it smelled like citrus salad dressing (homemade orange peel vinegar cleaner). :gig

Tomorrow, I'll tackle the bathroom and kitchen! ;) I did some measuring and it looks like I'll be able to set up the microwave on the propane stove top and set up our new 10-in-1 kitchen toy where the microwave sits now. :celebrate That's part of the project for tomorrow! ;) If I need to make use of the stove top, it's nothing for me to move the 'wave off to the bed and back again.

Did I tell ya's that I thought I was lost out here yesterday (Friday), again. :th It had been overcast all day and the sun poked out around 4 p.m., so I grab the camera and Cheyenne and I hit the woods. We went out to the back northeast corner since we hadn't been back there yet and the next thing I know, the sun disappears again and I realize that I'd been paying more attention to the wild mushrooms than where I was going. Nothing looks the same, with so much old dead wood down on the forest floor now. I just took a deep breath, squatted down and looked around and found a familiar landmark...a downed snag tree with a weird bole at the stump. Couldn't see it for the leaves on the underbrush/understory when I was standing up. Whew...not lost at all! :gig

So I'm heading for the downed tree and off to the right, I hear the Pileated and I'm pretty sure it was laughing at me! :gig They can laugh all they want...I'm fairly certain that I found the tree they're living in. :fl

Doc gets home and I tell him about the "excitement of the day" and he says "where was the compass" as he looks up to where it's usually hanging...right next to the door and I get to point out that it's setting right next to me on the table (along with my cell phone) and I'd forgotten to grab both. :th

Well, I'm going to close this now and do some more catching up with everyone! :frow

Better to be almost lost than lost! I got lost once when I was 12, though I could have found my way back the same way I had come easy enough. There was a creek behind my grandparents house. I had been at the neighbor's down the rode riding JB. (A large pinto pony) And, I decided to be adventurous and follow the creek back to my grandparents. I didn't know it wasn't the same creek! I didn't want to admit I wasn't going to come out at my grandparents-until I got to the cornfield and could see the road just past it. I KNEW there wasn't any corn field on my grandparents road, so I cut thru the corn field, out to the road. I could see my grandparents house way down the mountain and how to get back. It took me quite some time, but I did it. And, I didn't tell anyone either. They would have stopped my exploring in the woods. But that's when I became determined to learn about the different wild edibles. I was hungry and thirsty, but hadn't seen anything I knew I could eat.

Well, half way through on the middle third of the camper cleaning frenzy. Couldn't sleep last night and didn't get to bed until 6 a.m.. At 9 a.m., my nephew and his girlfriend show up for a quick visit before they headed off to Flippin (he starts a new job there tomorrow). They hung out for half an hour so I decide to lay back down for an hour or so and when I finally woke up it was almost 2 in the afternoon! :barnie Slammed down a cup of coffee, went out and took care of the critters, then came in and got started on the kitchen.

Decided to burn garbage today as we're doing the "civilized" visit to moms tomorrow. So Chey and I made a quick walk to one of the handy piles of downed wood and got the garbage taken care of. Came back in and continued to clean. Chey was good and held the bed down for me, since I was too busy to do so! :gig

Even though I didn't get everything accomplished that I had wanted to, I got the main thing finished...our new 10-in-1 is out of the box and in the kitchen! :celebrate Won't get to try it out until Tuessday, though.

Glad you found your way back, it must have felt horrible to not know your way on your own property! :hugs

Your new kitchen gadget looks fascinating, I bet you are going to love using it!

Crazy big mushroom, I remember seeing big ones like that when I lived on the west coast, but it's just not humid enough here for anything bigger than the typical white button mushrooms and little brown mushrooms that we get in our lawn sometimes in the damp of rainy June.

I'm glad I found my way back, too, moolie! :gig I'd been working on clearing paths through the woods but every time the wind blows good here (which is quite often), more dead limbs fall out of the trees. The excessive heat this year (April - August) really changed the way everything looks back there now.

The first time I did this to myself, I ended up on a neighbors property and did several circles around a drainage ditch that I thought was ours until I walked a bit further and came up on an a good sized deer blind (size of a small cabin on legs) and a huge satellite dish. :hide Finally found a few of our property line markers and got home safely. :th

Sheesh, it's too close to Thursday for comfort right now...still have a ways to go on my cleaning project. :th Nothing was accomplished yesterday since we went to my moms. Did some outdoor chores today as doc was sleeping since he's on nights until Thursday night/Friday morning. When he got home from his town run, he suprised me with a bag of goodies so I can make up a double batch of fire cider. I swaer, WallyWorld knew I had other things on the list for this evening and finally had ginger and horseradish roots in fresh today! :smack Oh well, I need to get it steeping so I'll be terrorizing that project after dinner and will go from there with cleaning.

Well, my belly is telling me it's time for dinner! Be back after while! :frow
