wheat is going up because a lot of the wheat growing areas in the US were hit by drought or floods this year. It doesn't seem to be going up as fast as the others though- perhaps because we had more in reserve

Buying local and in season always has made sense, but really I will go for the sales and stock up whenever I possibly can. My sister has been doing some side-line couponing the past few months and I think she has a nack for it. Her outboard boat is completely filled with dog and catfood and you don't even wanna think about her cabinets in the kitchen. I do some of my shopping with her. All I need to do for inspiration is watch the news or overhear it.
I posted on another thread- I know how to extreme couponing. I am willing to share my knowledge if you are interested. I am stockpiling my coupons right now- and looking for people to donate them if they dont use them. But I would like to add my personal opinion- hoarding what you buy , especially for free- is so wrong! The show makes me mad when people have basements full of food they can't possibly eat in a reasonable time! You will be going back to the store! When you have the knowledge you can do it over and over- it is very rewarding and exciting! And we all know someone who needs some help! Friends family or your local food bank. Stock what you will use and give the rest away! I've seen a lady spend 30.25 for 977.and change! And she kept it all! You do not need 40 bottles of shampoo! But the homeless shelter could use some of that! 3 bottles shloud be plenty to get you to the next sale! Sorry for my soapbox, but its wasted and it makes me mad! There are so many people who need help, and they are very greedy! And it expires before they use it! And they keep going back for more! Sorry again!
I will post a thread if there is a few interested in learning- its not that hard, if you can add subtract multiply and divide, but it does require effort, and you need a decent ability to sort. Takes a bit of time, but evening when watching TV is perfect for doing it!

First of all, welcome edjanuary39! :frow

Second, just a word of caution on one of your points....one person's "hoarding" is another person's "preparing for the worst." Just sayin'. :hide

Yes, welcome.
:welcome

I'm allergic to a chemical found in almost all cleaning products, including soap and shampoo. There are only a couple commecially-produced products I can use. So when my local dollar store had my shampoo there last week, you bet I came home with 9 of them. I plan to go back this weekend and grab a WHOLE lot more. Especially since manufacturers tend to change formulas from time to time.

Some of us have a reason for buying more than 3 bottles of shampoo.
