I have some store bought molds. I love the individual ones, and dislike the big bar sheet you cut apart. I'm going to try Freemotion's idea next however, because she always has such good ideas.

My handy husband made me some wooden molds, to my specs. I also use small cardboard boxes for small batches (sometimes I make one big batch and break it up into small scented batches) and I line everything with the white, shiny on one side freezer wrap paper.

I've used box top (ya know paper boxes), old candy molds and dish pans. But what I use now is just some 1 x 4's nailed together into a rectangle box. I line with wax paper.

I've used PVC pipes, rain gutter (completely enclosed), BP cans, Pringles cans, tofu containers, oatmeal canisters, silicone muffin and bread pans and more :)

My molds produce almost 4 ounce bars- 3.8 to 4. I am thinking of getting a box that holds 2 lbs of soap since all the boxes for loaf soap are for bigger batches. I found one online, but it is almost $70- but it's nice. Made out of plexiglass. From what I have read you can cut it with wire or even dental floss.

Or, I can go cheap and figure out the half-pvc pipe idea. :p

Is everyone here referring to lye type soap and not melt and pour soap? Just want to make sure ;)
