I'm already planning next year's garden as well. And, I'll be ordering seeds from Baker's Creek. For corn, I just planted what I could find from Wally's World, and I'm not overly happy w/it. So I found my self wondering what I could get from BC.

Are you members on TheEasyGarden.com as well? I've noticed the members there exchanging and sharing seeds of especially the harder to find stuff.

I'm not planning a garden at the moment, because we are trying to offload our property before emigrating... again. I miss messing around in the soil though! I probably enjoy the time spend on the garden more than eating the produce.

i have a small greenhouse that is still sitting down by my sisters house that i plan to move over to my house this fall. I'm planning on putting spinach, chard etc in there this winter as well as move my herbs from the outside to in there. can't wait till i can start next years seed. my problem is with so many varieties to choose from i'll never be able to decide which to plant. with the winter squash BC has between 95 and 100 varieties to choose from. does anyone have a favorite? and why? decisions, decisions...
got up this morning and found that the buck had somehow gotten out and visited my garden. he stripped what beans i had left, ripped and tore up some of the tomatoes and ate my two jalapeño pepper plants to the ground. they were covered with peppers and i was waiting for some of them to turn red before i picked them. on one level i hope he suffers and on the other level do you think i should feed him some ice cream? can't believe he did that. also ate two clematis that were waiting to be planted, here's hoping they come back from the roots. repotted the pepper sticks in a two gallon pot and am going to put them in the green house too. worst that can happen is that they don't grow or they will and i'll get a pepper or two after all.
DenimDeb, i also threw away more than i kept when i cleaned yesterday but still have pictures, recipes and books to find something to do with. now I'm sort of looking sideways at the basket of clothes in the corner. i think they're next. I built this little house last year and really, really downsized which is hard for me. i'm discovering that my "stuff" is kind of my security blanket and it is very hard for me to let go of. I'm tryin', i really am but it's slow going and now that i am just living on my social security and am always broke its really hard.
all in all its been a good day, got more done than i thought. visited with one of my sisters and took care of some business from mom's will then went and visited my friend jan who is remodeling her bathroom and i am her unpaid decorator. I'm likin' what the contractor has done so far and the mirror and and lights are working well with the glass tile trim . goats are good, sheep are good, chickens and ducks are good, piggy is growing like a weed and all is well with the world. nite youall, emma and i are headed for bed. I'm just hopin' she doesn't bring her lamblamb toy so i have to listen to squeeks off and on all night.

Although "Material World" is about 16 years old now, it is still an amazing piece of work-- and very thought-provoking. The author identified middle class families in 50 different countries and convinced them to bring all their worldly goods out of their homes for a family portrait. The comparison between what a family of 6 in India needs for comfort compared to the american family of 4 is....humbling.

@goatgurl Sorry to hear about the buck damage. Personally I'd let him suffer. Teach him to stay out of the garden in future!

@Britesea That's amazing...

Stoopid goat! LOL - they always, always, always eat just the very thing you want them to leave alone. Right now I've opened the garden gate and am begging for my goats and horses to clean it up!

Hope he doesn't get a belly ache from his little adventure!

I hear it's very nice meat ;) Should be well seasoned after those peppers.
