i can so identify with the sister who says they'll help and then sit back and let you struggle to get it all done. to bad you aren't close, i have a friend who spins and weaves. you have to do what you need to do to take care of yourself, sister can get over it.

Well what a crazy week, still nothing solid on the alpaca, shes waiting on the guy for her 4 adults...
and I lost more baby buns to enteritis...not sure if its the feed or just the heat, considering switching feeds...we'll see...
and weve been battling worms in the goats thans to a 100% USELESS local deworming regime given to us by a local goat friendly vet" (who admitted that theres not many goats around here...mostly sheep and horses...(according to the goat people at the fairs, that's because the goat people know the vets are clueless and do everything themselves lol))
anywho...all the goats looked rough but especially little Bilbo so I said screw it and pulled out the big guns, 3 days safeguard, 1 day quest....hit everyone with red cell every day for a week...the others seem to be improving already but bilbos still pale so hes getting Red cell eveyr day for another week and B12 and B1 shots every 3 days until his color starts to improve.
also copper bloused the entire group...
hopefully that gets us back on the right track.

however I have made some progress.
I heightend the fence around the turkey/chicken area so now the turkeys can come out and enjoy the grass...
the 3 adult angora whent home
sisters netherland dwarf whent home
ive managed to get all but 2 goats feet trimmed (hoping to do that tonight)
and today our first batch of quail eggs has started hatching. for some reason I thought it was 20 days for cotx, its 17 lol. and man do they pop out of those eggs fast. we had 1 pipped this moring...and by 3 had 6 babies loose lol
this will be a bit of a staggered hatch I loaded in a few batches until we were full...
right now 7 hatched and 3 more almost out
this batch I'm hoping to sell all of and I will be setting a new batch as soon as this batch finishes up especially fi they sell well.
they have the potential with good hatch rates to pay for the poultry feed for themselves, the adults and the ducks geese chickens and turkeys...and that would be worth it even if we never put any in our own freezer...

this weekend were going to the state fair tomorrow afternoon and planning on trying to get the new duck and goose pen down by the pond done...their current pen is going to be the bottle baby house and with 5 does possibly bred (2 of which I'm fairly certain about), I'm going to need that ready lol.
hoping to send the alpaca home asap so I can use their stall, itll be a goat and/or piggy stall for farrowing right now.
and next week I plan to clean the rabbitry and do some moving around to make room to get the auto water system set up and move the quail in there so I don't have to worry about them with the weather.

busy busy.

supplies for the new duck house are gathered purchased and placed at the work site...
that's todays job... get that built, then early next week I can run some fencing around the night pen and move them on down before the mid week.

also have someone supposed o be coming today around noon to take a look at the alpaca, REALY hoping he take them as it would make my life a little easier and the other woman is still waiting on news of her 4 adults first before she can commit...
if I can get them sold I can move he goats into that stall, clean out the goat stall and set that up with some temporary dividers for a farrowing pen for the piggies who are due in about 2 weeks...
I'm going to look into getting some fencing panels to set up kidding stalls for the goats too, tsccarries the 8ft handi panels for $12, I could get a couple of those and make some 4x4 kidding stalls out in the main barn area.
well be pulling kids for bottles anyway so the girls will be going back in with the heard as soon as they can, but with so many goats (we have 7) I don't want accidents with pushing/shoving if theres babies in the stall too.

ut yeah, today is the duck house...
and the alpaca
and hopefully process those extra male quail.

oh and our batch of set Quail eggs have started hatching, 12 so far from the first set, got about 40 more in there but the next batch isn't due to hatch for a few more days as I stagger set them.
hoping to get most of this batch sold...thatll help pay a little into the farm kitty for feed.

its hot, but not brutal and were working in the shade.
its almost done. just need a little more lumber as dad decided to get creative on the roof...its to help me in the long run (the center panel will be removable or hinged so I can stand up in the middle and not kill my back trying to clean it out) so hes run off to go get more supplies.

I'm meeting someone at 3:30 with rabbits so hopefully shell take both my rex girls (have someone who wants the rex boy as a trade on his...I want 1 more rex female and now have open cage space so why not...)
shes def interested in 1, but I'm hoping shell take both...if I sell both of them that's about 2 months worth of feed payed for, and the money rom the angora should take care of most of the auto watering system for winter... so that would be awesome.
ive just got my satin buck to find a home for and thatll be another month of feed (and I should have more babies ready to go by then which should vover the winter feed bill...im well in the red for 2015 right now so I'm realy hoping to make up for it in fall (my goal is to break even each year with the buns)

once the roof on the ducky house is done well be hooking up the trailer and I get to play "herd the pacas" had a guy and his wife come over today, they live 10 mins down he road have 2 alpaca currently and want them but doesn't have a trailer, so assuming he doesn't change his mind between now and about 4:30-5ish this afternoon well have them off to their new home tonight...
it sucks to say g'bye to them but I think they'll be happier, and its a big weight off me...I like them...but I don't LOVE them...and its just an increase in feed, they take up stal space and sinc eone of them insists on getting into things in the back yard that upset her tummy I cant let them out to graze...so they cant even mow the lawn for us lol...
so off they go tonight, which means I can prep that stall to move the goats in then prep the goats stall to make it a farrowing pen for the pigs, and that's a few less construction jobs for me to mess about with.

the alpaca money I'm hoping I can use a little of it to buy REAL stall mats for both the stalls, we have gravel and its a pain in the ass, especially with the chickens running around in there...
its not so bad once its covered in bedding but come clean out it then sucks again caus eyour trying to seperte bedding form gravel and GAH!
the rest will probably get put into stocking up the hayloft...

oh well, time to prep these buns...fingers crossed that she takes both!

I have pea gravel in my stalls, but don't use bedding so it works out OK. And the only reason I have the gravel is to keep it from getting muddy when we have nasty weather. I get my own place, I'm using this stuff for the floors. http://www.equiterr.com/

well they took the alpaca, seemed very nice, but I still didn't sleep much last night worrying...
I have anxiety its what I do, but my brain just keeps spinning round with "what if they change their minds, what if something happens to one of them, what if what if what if?!
he mentioned last night they had to separate out the adult male as he was just being chasey/rough and I'm sure that's playing part on my anxiety, camelids don't do stress well, and if he doesn't settle down...what if they decide they don't want these 4? I seriously am all over the place this morning...
but life stops for no one...

gonna grab some tylanol and try to just let it go...

todays plan is usual Monday stuff...
which includes trough scrub outs most days of the week I give it ascrub with the brush a rinse and empty/refil every couple of days, but Mondays I do a bit of bleach to try and keep the troughs from building that layer of green alge that gets into the crannies of the ruber troughs.
I want to figure out the fencing for the new duck pen today o I know what I need to get for that, and I want to try and get some barn clean up done...
I swear ive got a mass spider production facility in there, how does 1 barn get so many spiders in a month?

been battling wormies with the goats too so todays a Famcha check and redcell and B's as needed.

I just need to keep going, and try to stop worrying about thigns that are now out of my hands.
