Yes! Sheep would be the best! As it is, all I had was 50 CX and their litter....way too hot, too much nitrogen..and my rows were too close together to prevent that excess from going from my high nitrogen feeders into the soils of the next row and affecting the balance there. Too much of a good thing and I knew it, and I still did it...like an idiot!

Got lush growth at first, little blossoming or blossoming that rotted and fell off (classic) and late bearing plants that show extreme imbalance of nutrient levels all over the garden.

Next year will be better~I won't be adding anything but some pelleted lime this fall and overseeding the rows with clover...these clay soils are hard to distribute nutrients into unless you're doing light tillage throughout the garden and we're not. We are trying to till as little as possible, so this year's drought, and then heavy rains, really created havoc from my mistakes.

My goats got out and destroyed E's tomatoes and cantalope.....we're not discussing gardens around here right now.

Always do, dear! That way everyone can tell exactly who I am and where I stand.

Weeds pretty much grow everywhere but cultivating the soils and keeping the rows straight, suppressing the ability of the weeds to take over...all these things can make sure you have a beautiful and productive garden/pastures. I like growing fruits and veggies...not so much the weeds.

Keeping weeds out of the pasture is something for which I will always strive...weeds aren't as nutritious or palatable for those creatures needing to graze there and grow there.

Wonder why my animals like all the weeds in my pasture. Dandelions are weeds, great detoxified and builder, stinging nettle are a great emergency food, jewel weed, a poison ivy cure..... As a matter of fact MANY weeds are useful. Darn shame some can't see the forest thru the trees. You, my dear have a way of putting a lot of people off. I am sure you like it that way though, more control for you. In situations like this I have to ask, "What would Jesus do?" Did he not include everyone? Maybe you might want to go re-read Matthew 15:21-28 and ponder on it. Yes, I went there. And you can rant on all you like on how dare I quote scripture to you, but news flash, some of us "weeds" are quite learned in the Bible. Maybe you should practice what you preach and be a little more Christ like.

Bee, you always remind me of my Pa. Not the age, but just the way you phrase things sometimes. I might not always agree with every little thing you say, but I respect the fact you are blunt and to the point. I always think of a thing he told us kids hundreds of times...
