I may have skipped those pages when I got busy with life. I thought all this was going on in your greenhouse.

Update....so, on Monday morning, I harvested all the lettuce and spinach from my indoor kitchen garden, removed my composted soil, and replaced it with Black Gold Seed Starting Soil. I planted 3 varieties of spinach, 5 varieties of lettuce, and a few seeds of basil, parsley and dill. Four days later I have spinach seedlings already appearing...and NO MOLD on the soil! I have the combination T5/Full Spectrum LED lights about 4 inches above the soil. All is looking well so far.

I've been pretty quiet around these parts lately....been busy with a few other projects...one of which was building a new website for a friend...138 pages! My hip has also been hurting lately and sitting at the computer aggravates it, so other than building that website and my online business dealings, I've haven't been following my "regulars".

I thought I would give you an update since I last wrote about our kitchen garden just before Christmas. Replacing the composted soil with sterilized seedling mix and adding a wee bit of organic fertilizer, adding the led grow lights to my T5 lights, and putting the lighting unit on chains so I can adjust it has done wonders. The plants are growing quickly and there is no mold to be found on the soil! We have been harvesting the result for two weeks now.

In this pic, you can see how I removed the "fixed" lighting fixture from the top bar (drilled out the rivets) and rigged it up on chains so I can lower and raise it as needed. It was just too far away...a real design flaw by the manufacturer.



A little hard to get good pics with the fixture so low and the fact that these were taken at 4 in the morning when everything was dark except for the kitchen garden, but these will give you a good idea.

I was actually thinking about this thread yesterday and was going to ask how your veggies were doing! Looks great! Now I want to try this...

Real easy @NH Homesteader...if I had to do it over again, I would build it myself for 1/4 of the price.

Next growing project...I bought 50 each of Douglas Fir, Fraser Fir and Balsam Fir seeds. I have to stratify them in the fridge. Then, I am going to plant them in these cool growing tubes for trees that encourage a long root growth called "Cone-tainers". Each cone is 1.5" x 8.25. I can plant 98 of them in this and it is only 24" x 12". Won't take up much room in the greenhouse.

What a great salad(s) in the making. The chains are going to work out great for you. Easier than trying to raise the pots. I love the cone-tainer. Cool idea.
