My corn cobs are a little small. Am I picking too early or did I miss doing something right earlier?

Lost a couple birds today. My black australorp was taken in the night. Nothing left but a pile of feathers and my naked neck cockeral disappeared today. Also had to put down an old sick hen.

Sorry about the birds. You produce looks nice and the wife is doing well with canning! Nice job done by you both.

Bay, I have a strainer like that. came with pot & pan set and it actually a "potato ricer". Instead of mashing potatoes you put them in there and press thru. Cute for kids to eat but, otherwise I like mashed potatoes and regular rice. Both loaded with butter.

A few look like you might have picked a little early. Sometimes it's hard to tell. Are you putting up the corn too? As corn on the cob or cream corn? A dish that I like is; fry some bacon in an iron skillet. Take the bacon out, slice fresh mushrooms and saute in the bacon grease, add cream corn, crumble the bacon in and stir it all together. Bake in the oven until the edges brown. Yummy!
