That is cool! I think the pic looks smaller too so it's nice hearing the actual size. Tell DH he's doing a great job!

@Beekissed , yes, the radial saw was a great deal! I actually got two at rummage sales last summer. One was $35 and needs new heads (I actually don't know what that means, but took a chance. It's a craftsman saw.) The second was $15 because my old neighbor was having a sale and wanted it out of his way. He said he hadn't used it in two years and was tired of moving it. I got a table saw for $50, from a couple in our church who got a new one (same people I got the $35 saw from). And I got a brand new scroll saw (used for one project only) from another neighbors sale with instruction book, all blades and orig receipt. That was $75. Radial arm saw (ignore the red motorcycle charger):

The shelf next to the radial arm saw is on wheels so we can move it to work. We can also slide the shelf that the RAS is on away from the wall. The second one might get sold now that we know this one works.

And table saw (we have all the pieces, we just moved this and not all the pieces are in the picture):

I got all 4 saws for less than what I would have paid for one of them new.

Somehow or another I missed this. Nice bookshelf and yep you got the joinery names correct also. Really good wood working there thumbs up. Should be strong like bull ox.

You may want to consider screwing it into a few wall studs or get all fancy and make a french cleat. Bookcases get heavy and Lord forbid it would tip over. French cleats are real simple to make and also quite strong.once you make one I can almost guarantee you will find many more uses for them.

OK, not that I've finished all the other projects I was working on, but I get my granddaughter for the next three weeks. I expect them here tomorrow night so I'm building a very simple playhouse from stuff I already have here. I drew up plans today, made a little table, selected wood off of our pile, and started cutting. It might have been a compliment (I'm taking it as one), but when my DH got home from work he mentioned that I use the saws more than he does! :D
This will be a very simple design using mostly 2x4's. I will have 3 walls that are 4'x8' (because I have three 4x8 pieces of plywood here) framed with 2x4's. The front will be an 8'x8' frame. With a 2x5 door and a short 2 1/2' wall (another piece of plywood already here) the top will be a simple tarp, slanting down from the front to the 4' back wall. I'm thinking of pulling the front of the tarp out a bit to give an awning, and anchoring it with ropes.
I'm hoping to have the frame together by the time they get here, and let her help me paint.View attachment 4832
I'm already thinking that I could easily convert this to a temporary greenhouse or winter chicken coop if I wanted. The four walls are just simple panels that will be easy to put up and take down. Hopefully I'll be able to post pictures tomorrow...:)

Wow real plans on paper to cool...I can't draw very well so I usually work off of a photo or sometimes, I have the finished project in that gray matter between my ears. It's trying to get it out of there and into wood that's the problem.

My plans are rarely on paper. :) Usually, we come up with an idea, and just start pounding nails. But I do like graph paper, and can draw plans out as needed. We recently spent an hour outside moving some of the empty crates around trying to picture different ideas for a raised bed greenhouse idea for the winter. And we had a few crates and 2x4's and played with it a bit until we came up with ideas we both liked for rabbit hutches. A pencil is easier than a 2x4 to move, but both give us a way to get it out of the gray matter and show us a picture before we start cutting. :)

We've been sidetracked lately, but are building again. This week's project was a 12'x 16'x 8' greenhouse. We've got the frame up, and put the roof on today. All the wood was from the scrap pile, so nothing is square but that's ok. DH will be making an 8' wide double door. But even with that section open, you can already feel a difference in the temperature when you step in. I'll be fixing and trimming some tomorrow, then we'll be moving in the raised beds...

So I've got pictures under the greenhouse thread but thought I'd catch up here too.
The first picture is of the 12x16' greenhouse. This one has an olive tree, tomato plants, and is about 1/2 full of an elderly neighbor's deck plants. There are several raised beds for me to plant more.
The second picture is of the 8x8 greenhouse/playhouse. I've got a door made, and just need to put it up. It will have flowers and whatever else the kids want to plant.

Raised beds for flowers in the 8x8 greenhouse.

We also have two smaller greenhouses for a lime tree, mint, oregano, basil and tomato plants (picture won't come up tonight). We only bought one of the four greenhouses and it is a 5x5 pop-up one that I bought on clearance several years ago.

With the wood and raised beds all free, the 12x16, 8x8, and smaller 4x4 greenhouses altogether cost us about $150 total to put up.

I build by the "what do I have" method too! I have a picture in my head of what I want it to look like and if I get it any where near to that picture, I call it good. Your green houses look great!
