DH is having a hard time with this one too. He asked his friend to shoot her... He never does that. Poor DH might be happy for a pig break too!
I have been thinking for some time now that I need to reduce our meat consumption, which means I need to find alternate protein sources for my picky, meat obsessed family. It would reduce costs and reduce work, I just need to find stuff these folks will eat! I would like the meat in my freezer (which is about to be full again) to last a while...
I like having a new mission.... Lol

All went well, they're finishing skinning now. So... There's this little plane that was flying really low over our house, in circles... Pretty sure they were trying to decide if they should call the cops due to the giant amount of blood in the snow and the man walking around with a rifle.... Can you imagine?? The police here would get a good laugh out of that one!!
Also, I'm thinking all of my goats are pregnant. I'm seeing bellies... Kind of scared now lol!! They were some kind of excited to see me today. I can't wait until spring!

Ahhhh - it is harder to pull the trigger on some of 'em - for sure. But, glad that it's done and your freezer will fill back up. Must've been a strange sight from the sky, huh?

WE had our DD and family over for supper Friday night. The 2 (soon to be 3) year old was being picky until I told her the pork chop was from our pig. She said, "Pig can't bite me now!"

That's great! DD was right in there watching and asking questions today. Farm kids are awesome!

DH just called the cops about this stupid dog that is in our yard every single day. And often in the middle of the night. It came close to meeting my dog aggressive dog this morning, he had just come in the house. That would be a bad day for everyone. Grrr
Going to try to get this pig cut up today. We usually like to hang it for longer but we have bad weather headed our way, plus we don't need to tempt the coyotes another night!
