I'm not planning on moving......but if I ever do, I want to make a floor of cedar. Not planks, but cross cut pieces of large and small diameter limbs. Then pour resin over all of it to make a real special floor. I laid the planks in our house, sanded, white washed and polyurethaned the floors. Came out pretty.

Have you ever seen a paper bag floor? Very cool also.

Only one suggestion - and you may have already thought about it....some type of spacers so little fingers don't get squashed if they are opening or closing it.

It really is cool and I know they're gonna love it!

Thanks... I'm going to design in a simple locking mechanism for both the seat backs. Lock when closed so an adult has to open it up and a lock when the seat backs are in open position, so they won't accidently close until an adult closes them. You know how kids are...

Lock in the upright position is what the seat dividers are for in the picture that I copied the design from. I'm just going to do something different because I don't like the seat dividers.

Love the paper bag floor! I'd love to do that on my back patio and breezeway...wonder how it would hold up in weather? Off to Google!

I ripped out all the flooring in our redneck doublewide mansion and laid white knotty pine. I never laid floors before. I wanted a farmhouse look. Now the floor has scratches, dings and dents. I achieved the beat up old farmhouse look I wanted.

I looked at the paperbag floor and a lot of other stuff. Nothing grabbed me until I saw the unfinished white pine.

Knotty white pine is also my wife's most favorite wood so I can relate. Me however not so much... Pine is pretty far down, on the likeable wood list for me. I also understand the country farm house look and agree it fits right in with that style. As long as you all like it thats all the counts.

Someone remind me to take a pic of DS's bedroom floorboards for you some time. The most beautiful wood floor I've seen in a very long time.

In the meantime, this is pretty cool too:

With enough time and a home made router template I could do that puzzle floor - it's two shapes, so shouldn't be to hard. Noticed I said shouldn't :)

Actually I would go and purchase just a couple of pieces from the mfg and make my router templates off that. Then I would have it forever and could cut out as many peices as I wanted. Call me a copy cat I guess...
