Have fun cleaning out that barn today - ugh. But, think of all the prospective compost you can get outta there! Bonus!

Candling can be tricky and misleading. I once had 6 eggs under a broody, none showed signs of life or development, but I left them under her, while I searched for some chicks to swap them out with. Hatch day came and ALL of them hatched! I'm still not sure how the heck that happened, as I've candled loads of eggs before and know what to look for.

Only going to get the barn half cleaned out it looks like. Will be doing a TSC run tomorrow for shavings and some stall dry, we'll keep them in the other half for the night. Next weekend we'll tackle the other side. DH broke the pitchfork so he's going to borrow one from a friend (waiting for him to return now!)

Had some ideas about moving critters, changing housing.... So nice to be back outside and not trudging through snow!!

We'll see how many chicks hatch but I'm still hoping not many!

They're having a great day in the sun! Finally! DH is going to build an awning sort of, so I can milk outside but under cover. It will be awesome!
