Awesome! I do like them. I've always wanted to try that breed. Looking forward to hearing how they turn out.

We have a slaughter date of July 11 for the hogs. And we sold the other half today. So both hogs are sold before we even take them to slaughter. The couple today that are buying the half hog also want 10 pounds of the lamb that we are taking as well.

Took a couple of pictures today. It’s hard to get them to pose. They were eating corn cobs, I put up cream corn today.

So... What breed are you going to try next? Might as well taste test them all! Lol!

I love old spots. You should try them. Such sweet personalities and so delicious!

I haven't seen any Old Spots around here, or I would. I would like to find Large Blacks again. Our first feeder pigs were Large Black/Berkshire crosses. They guy we bought them from was going to go "whole hog" into breeding Berkshires. Maybe I should look him up again. He wanted $200 for a Berkshire feeder pig, he might not be breeding for $60 crossbreds. LOL

Lol no, probably not! $200 huh? That's high. Piglets are pricey this year, glad I'm not buying. $100 and up regardless of breed. Don't know why...

Still 50-100 here. Generally 50-60 for decent crosses of the full sized hogs. Have a guy who raises about 40-60 a yr and feeds some out to sell at butcher. Raises own feed, no chemicals, etc. Heck, I can buy a side and not even get muddy! :D Used to get outdated veggies by the truck load from a supplier of restaurants. Without that, feed too high from stores for me to deal with it. Besides.....they can do a number on my pastures. :( Not my thing.

@baymule those two look great! Well rounded, doesn't look too fat and should give a good carcass :) I can't help after raising and bothering pigs for so long, I always see meat when I look at pigs lol
