And, drum roll please! So far today:

Kitchen clean - and I mean granite polished, DH's "stuff" put in it's proper place, spices gone through and old ones (like from 2013) tossed! Refrigerator is no longer sporting science experiments. Kitchen and dining room floor mopped. Dishwasher almost full and will be turned on when it's got a few less empty spaces.

Curtains in bedroom washed and rehung, blinds vacuumed, and lampshade is minus it's dusty coating.

Several loads of laundry washed, dried...not folded or put away - yet.

Windowsills in dining room and living room vacuumed. Chair rail in dining room vacuumed. Ceiling corners vacuumed just in case there's an 8 legged resident hiding up there somewhere.

A batch of cayenne peppers in the dehydrator. A pot of red rippers simmering on the stove and I'm about to shell the batch I picked yesterday.

Going to stuff a pork loin with as many garlic cloves as I can stuff in there and then gonna put it in the oven OR the instant pot - just haven't decided yet.

It's crazy how much I can get accomplished when I stay inside.

I fed the critters this morning sporting a mask. Masks are HOT and make me a bit claustrophobic. But, I'm going to power through it and use it again tonight when I feed. I will not succumb to this dust again!

I am catching up here. FEM, I'm feeling both sad and relieved for you. You've had an intense whirlwind bittersweet year. You are certainly due for some rest (or housekeeping, as the case may be). Thank you for sharing this journey with us. It has had some precious moments, raw moments which are not yet over. :hugs

@tortoise You're right - it has been a year of ups and downs and I'm thankful that the roller coaster ride has ended. Especially thankful that both mom and dad are no longer suffering.

Headed to the funeral home this morning to finalize plans. Hoping we can have the service tomorrow, but no final word yet...

Thanks ya'll - you are all awesome!

All done. Crazy how we were all so composed at mom's funeral - cuz that's how she was. She wasn't one who showed emotion. Totally different with dad. He was the true patriarch of the family and he never met a stranger. We were all blubbering before it was over. DH delivers a good eulogy. When he closed by saying "I'm going to miss this old soldier" there wasn't a dry eye in the place. But, it was a great tribute to my dad and several people asked for copies of the eulogy for keepsakes.

I did ok until we got home - then I had my mini-meltdown. My dad was just one of those "people." There was nothing half-way about him. He mighta been a little banty rooster kind of fella but he made a huge impression on a lot of people.

I'm gonna miss the old soldier too. :(
