First rooster poult hatched a little while ago. It extended both legs while I was holding on it back after it settled down and relaxed, that's how I know it's a rooster. It'll be good eats regardless. Tiny little thing isn't it?

That he is... Momma hen pecked me a good one while snatching up her chick too. He had a big wad a poop stuck to is rear. I had to wash it off gently with a Qtip and warm water. Then I spread a little tripple antibiotic on his rear. The life of a farmer I guess... In a book I have it says to do this or it may prevent them from going poop.

Cute little thing! It sounds like he may have pasty butt? Add a splash of apple cider vinegar to their drink water for a few days. It really helps prevent that and it's a great all round booster for them.

A snake got all the chicks :( it's really bad year for snakes. They are showing up in strange places. Snakes are so bad we keep the shotgun by the front door for quick access. It doesn't help that my field was mowed and raked last week for hay either.

Oh no :( I'm so sorry! Look up snake repellents for around the coop, house, etc. I know there are stuff that supposedly works, but I can't think of what it is now.

That's another thing I do not miss about S.A. snakes and huge spiders.
