Oh mann... I see the situation you are in....

Katee is a Percheron.... shes 26 now and because I cant take care of her long distance I have moved her to a retirement facility where a twelve year old girl dotes on her.... They want her so If I cant go home soon I will sign her over with a one dollar transaction fee.... but my heart hurts just to think of it.

I do NOT want this wet to be "new normal" ! DO NOT !! Always liked my green pastures, dry barn surrounds, rain once or twice a week and EVEN three weeks of dry when I had water the garden!

I need some sunshine!

I have a couple frenchies….one at the end of their travel path to the "lower field" and into the carport shelter. Put a drain between path & shelter, keeps the little "river" from running thru during heavy rains. Of course, dry when I dug it AND I have a backhoe

FEM is like most....it's just "a little muddy" with occasional rains, not this constant monsoon phase. This has the entire SE swimming -- literally!

Congrats on the twin doelings. Last year on New Year's Eve, Miranda Lambert had twins, I named the ewe lamb Eve. I kept the ram lamb to be the flock sire for at least one season, waiting on Ringo in Tennessee. LOL What are you going to name the girls?

It's still raining here, but supposed to clear off. And we are supposed to have SUNSHINE on Saturday and Sunday before the rain comes back.

Have you had lambs yet this year bay?

A set of triplets, the runt didn't make it, and a set of twins, both ram lambs. Naturally they were the prettiest lambs we've ever had.

For the first time ever - this year I'm going to try naming kids with names that have the same starting letter as their mother's name. Mom is Lucy - so I'm not being very creative and am naming them Lucky and Lacie I think.

Since I have another doe with an "L" name (Luna) I'm making sure that with Lucy's babies not only do they share an "L" - they will also share a "c."

Luna's kids (if she's even bred) will most likely share an "L" and an "n."

Or I'll blow the whole thing off and just name 'em whatever jumps in my head at the time.

With Luna, I'd be thinking "moon" things. Just me.


Once had a stally named Indian Snow, so names to include something of that...one I always loved (pat on back!) Smidgeon of Snow, barn name Midge. ( Long, horse registry)

Now, the goats are lucky to get just one word names. One of my fav milk does is Brat -- because she was one & it stuck. Total sweetheart now. Names are often a PITA.

I didn't go to work today - stayed home to work harder. I figured out the other day that I have reached the max on allowable vacation hours. I sure wish I'd checked earlier because I've been giving my vacation time back to the guberment for several months now.. argh! I need to take a day or two a month for awhile. I can carry most of it into retirement and get paid out for it - but I'm not gonna just keep giving it back to em until then. Also have almost 6 weeks of sick time that I won't get paid out for - so I predict some sick days in my future too.

So, went and picked up feed and things this morning. Spent way too much time in town...I'd rather be here doing things. Since I got home I've been doing the unloading feed thing. Bought 15 bags of feed and a few more bags of shavings. Too wet to get close so I'm having to shoulder it part of the way. YaY - great exercise.

Think I need to find some time to disbud the girls this weekend. They are so big! And, cute! And, sweet! That might change after disbudding...
