I've been told I iook at life differently than most other people, I guess I do. Most all my friends have already died. After watching my best friend from childhood die the horrible death of cancer. I found a new understanding of my life. I'm the one that has to die when it's time for me to die, so let me live the rest of my life the way I want to.

Amen. I don't do mammograms, colonoscopies or any other cancer screening tests. I'd do surgery to remove a mass if it was obstructing things, but that's about it.

A person isn't going to die one millisecond sooner than they were appointed to die.

How would you know you have a mass if you don't do a screening test?

Why? Well... I didn't like the idea of having a colonoscopy at all.
My husband had one a couple of years ago. He had a couple of polyps and they were removed. He was out, didn't know a thing, feel a thing, but was relieved that was all that it was. He said it wasn't that bad. If he can do it, anybody can.

My DH said he’d do it again- said they give good drugs, and it was the best sleep he’d ever had!

So.... what's the difference between keto and paleo diets?
The differences seem to be fairly small-- paleo says "yes" to fruits and a wider variety of vegs, and "no" to dairy, while keto eliminates almost all fruits (except the berries) and vegs are more restricted, but accepts dairy (in the form of most cheeses, butter and eggs and cream, but no milk). Both put a strong emphasis on eating the best quality meats and fish that you can get, and healthy fats like macadamia oil, avocado, olive, and coconut oil. Keto tends to be more accepting of erythritol as a sweetener, while paleo uses very little in the way of sweeteners except maybe a little honey. Neither one likes potatoes or grains except in extremely limited amounts.
Of the two, I would say that paleo is perhaps the better diet for long term. I know that I plan to only use keto until I reach my goal weight, and then move over to paleo or a modified paleo

Thanks! I'm feeling like paleo makes a lot of sense for me. Especially since dairy and I aren't friends anymore:(

If you're eating potatoes prepared at home, they are actually pretty good for you. Make sure you have enough healthy fat with them to slow carb digestion and aid in vitamin and nutrient absorption. They actually should be eaten with some salt to help balance out the potassium. A baked potato doesn't raise my blood sugars at all. I have to be careful and eat enough protein with it or it will drop my sugars too low. Fries raise it but not in the manner rice and corn do.

One of my favorite lunch time meals: Potato baked IN the wood stove. Covered with what ever cooked veggies I have on hand, Generous serving of roasted garlic, (also cooked IN the wood stove), a bit of sour cream, cheese melted on top, mixed seasonings, salt to taste.

I have refused to do a colonoscopy. I will do Fecal Occult Blood. And find myself wondering why I even bother with that. My brother has colon cancer: radiation, ? chemo, conlonoscopy, illeostomy. He's been suffering greatly since his surgery, in the hospital more than he's out of the hospital.

Hubby and I have discussed the options, and we have both come to this conclusion: if cancer becomes an issue, we will most likely opt to enjoy what time we have left, and not subject our bodies to burning, poisoning, or cutting.

Many years ago, in the wee hours of the morning, when I was nursing my infant daughter, God spoke to me in a voice that was unmistakable. Not heard with ears, but heard within my soul: "ARE YOU READY?" (to leave this life) My response: "Yes, Lord, I'm ready."
