Our daughter has a Chevy Volt, gas/electric car. She drives 50 miles a day to work and spends around $20 a month on gas. If I were still working and driving back and forth, I would sooooo have one of those!

BUT -- with all the repairs, it's still (often) less expensive to keep the older model and "baby it along". Especially since we normally drive less when "retied". :D
We are definitely driving the last vehicles we will ever own - if luck is with us! His car is a Volvo and they literally last forever. However - parts are NOT cheap! He has 90K miles on his car and it's a year newer than my truck. That's what commuting will do for ya. I'll hang on to my truck as long as I can climb up into it, lol. Might need a power lift if my hip doesn't get better lol. Thinking I need to go see the good-looking :drool ortho doc and get a cortisone shot.

DH has been at the tire/brake place since 9am and it's now 2:30pm. They got the back rotors put on and found out that the front ones were not the correct ones. He had to wait until they delivered another set. He's been there over 5 hours - YIKES! But, he's going to get a free oil change out of the deal, lol.

I've been re-working the feed area in the barn. It was too cramped and now that I'm moving more goats out there - something had to be done. So, now it's done.

Shoveled up a cart load of barnyard gold while I was out there to move into the garden area. It'll be a great boost to something. Speaking of something - I need to get something else planted. Not sure what yet - but need to keep putting seeds in the dirt. I seem to be planting lots of different kinds of squash. The regular ol' crookneck yellow and zucchini plus something called Dish Pan Cushaw, Hubbard, Long Pie Pumpkin (squash) and something else I can't remember.

Tomatoes are about to bloom - all 4 plants that I've got going. Most years I plant upwards of 30ish... I still want to plant some cherry tomatoes. Guess I better get in some kind of a hurry! Saw some radishes peeking through this morning - DH loves radishes. I broadcast some lettuce seeds a couple days ago - probably too late, but thought I'd try. I got a short row of bush beans planted. Found some of those red Asian yard long beans and put them by the trellis. Got lucky and found the Rattlesnake Bean seeds so they are planted now too. Might plant some corn this year. DH doesn't get to eat much of it but I love it - and by golly I deserve some for doing all that hard gardening work! Okra...can't forget okra and some Red Rippers. I need to get busy!

Oops - time to feed the babies. Turned the "bottle monsters" out to play with the other babies this morning. They were having a blast!

Remind me NEVER again to have bottle babies unless it's an absolute necessity (and this was). They will NOT leave me alone, lol. Dallas is just as bad now that I give her a supplemental bottle. I put some yogurt in her milk for the probiotics. It's the easiest way to make sure she's getting enough groceries AND some probiotics at the same time. She's been cudding for a couple days so her belly is fine. :)

I tried to get a good pic of the three of them but they were being awful. I did the best I could:

They were chasing me down, lol.

Awwwh -- how sweet -- three different colors!

Sounds like you have something growing. Me? I hope I can set out these 8 tomatoe plants and some seeds. Off all day!! It's a wonderful thing. :D REALLY need to get garden going. We are just a little cooler here than you. That's my excuse! It's been really wet for both of us, too.

I need my feed room reworked, too. Never enough time! Our lives just need more "time" !! :idunno

Aw they're so darn cute! Yay for seeds in the ground! Bummer about the car situation though, ugh what a pain that is.

They are cute aren't they? But rotten, rotten, rotten. Dallas will nurse her mama a little bit and then come running to me looking for a bottle. I only intended to give her a little probiotic by bottle and now she has this idea that she's going to get ninny from her mama and a bottle from me. Doesn't sound so dumb now does she? LOL!

Got a text from the lady I sold my Nigi does to. PIA had two kids by her side when sold and I told the lady that I "thought" the other doe was bred but it was a little early to be sure. I sold her that doe for $100 cuz I just needed them gone. The doe had triplet doelings for her today! She was thrilled! And, I was thrilled that they are at her house. Things have a way of working out, lol!

It seems that goat math far outstrips sheep math. LOL That sucks about the mix up at the brake/tire place. FIVE HOURS? :th

I worked in the garden, planting tomatoes, mizuna and eggplant today. And PULLING WEEDS!

Goat math can sure be scary!

Sounds like you have something growing.
Very little - but even a little is better than nothing.

Today was a good day - for me anyway. DH might disagree. Poor baby - he's worn out and has gone to bed already.

Dallas Details - If you're tired of hearing about her - skip the rest of this post.

Dallas is improving daily. Yesterday she started cudding again. Today she initiated contact with other baby goats and interacted with them. I'm really optimistic about her progress. For awhile I was afraid to be. Now comes the part I'm not so well-versed in. I've got to start weaning her off her meds... new territory for me...and it's a holiday weekend so I'm going it alone. But she can't stay on steroids forever. I'm going to keep the antibiotics going for another few days.

This has been such a learning experience! Ya sure don't learn anything if you give in early and cull. But let me emphasize that there was not any moment that I thought she was in pain. There was not one single incidence of her doing any teeth grinding or crying out. Not once.

It was a hard birth, but she was born normal except for her lax tendons in one back leg. Nothing terribly unusual about that at all. It happens. Her neurological symptoms didn't start for several weeks after birth. Actually, they didn't start until a couple of weeks after I disbudded her. Could that have been the cause - yep - it could have been. Vet was like - it could be anything. (Respiratory symptoms about the same time) But for the most part you treat several unspecified neurological symptoms the same. Be it Goat Polio, Listeriosis or Thermal Meningitis (from disbudding). Steroids, anti-inflammatories, Penicillin, and Thiamine seem to be the basic course of action. Seems to have worked for Dallas. Hope she tolerates the withdrawal as well as she tolerated the treatment.

Hope everyone has a good Easter. We're hoping to get some serious relaxation accomplished here.

Such a pain about the mix-up with the car! I had that happen once. I needed the driver side window on my car replaced. Called and ordered told the eejit on the phone over and over it's a Toyota Corolla AVANTE!! (At the time there were about 4 different models of Corolla around S.A.) We drove 35 miles to the shop to find he ordered the wrong window :th

Those bottle monsters look like an adorable handful! :love And that's awesome about the lady getting triplets!! I got surprised like that with a sheep once. No-one knew she was bred when I bought her and then she dropped twins :)

I'm glad Dallas is doing so good now and no, we're not tired of hearing updates or seeing pics of her ;)
