Yesterday, hubby and I spent 9 hours planting outside. We planted 8 raspberry canes, 7 blueberry bushes, and around 100 strawberry plants. We still have to plant 2 elderberry bushes, 2 lilac bushes, black raspberries, rhubarb, potatoes, and garlic. We will be working on that later this week. Nice to see the garden starting to come together!

That's wonderful! Started a garden is back breaking work, but it's so rewarding. A year or two from now you are going to have so many fresh berries from your own garden :drool I'm waiting on mine to see what they are going to do this year. I need berries! I spend way too much at the shop every week buying them for my smoothies.

@sumi I also spend money on berries for smoothies! I would much rather be able to walk out my front door to get them, than drive 30 minutes to town.
This week, I finally finished planting my elderberries, black raspberries, and lilacs. The geese, ducks, and chicks are doing wonderfully. The geese are starting to loose their adorable yellow fluff, and trading it in for a few beautiful white feathers. The ducks have found their voices, and are "quack, quack, quacking" about. The chicks started to exercise their wings yesterday, and are flapping around today. Too cute!
I am praying for broody hens in the future. I would very much enjoy NOT having birds in my basement again. :sick
This week, I was also able to make Turkey&Orzo Soup and Ham soup with leftovers from Easter. I have those in the basement freezer. Yay for quick meals!

I started using bananas in my smoothies instead. Cheaper than berries by quite a lot. If I find berries marked down, I buy a whole lot and put them in the freezer. Chopped up strawberries, frozen, then thawed, is amazing in smoothies!

I also like to put a bit of grape or apple juice in a smoothie. Must have banana, and must have yogurt. We can make an evening meal out of a smoothie and a piece of PB toast.
