When I was gardening in Wyoming, I found that the wind was my biggest enemy. It dried out the plants, knocked them over and even twisted the tomato plants right off at the roots.
Mulch helped a lot too.

I'm working on building a wind break on the north side of my garden- at 6 feet tall, it will divert the prevailing winds from the whole garden. Not only will it help prevent the drying problems, but should also help raise the temps in the garden a degree or two when it's cold. Not much, but it might make the difference with some of my plants.

Congratulations on the new additions! Those blankets look lovely. Like FEM said, rest and take time for yourself! In a few months' time you're going to be very busy! :)

Well i'll have the first layer of mulch on the garden after another pass with the mower.

The grass in the back was crazy almost a foot long in some spots and as thick as could be. It also didn't help that the grass was still wet yesterday but we didn't want to risk going another week not being able to mow (forecast says rain for the next week). Its not my favorite thing to do but I'm going to go over the lawn again on Wednesday. With the grass being so long and still wet (and the lawn mower isn't the best) there are a few long spots that need taken care of.
