We have brackenfern growing in the same places as nettle. It also works on the sting. As does plantain. They also work on bee stings.

And if you get a lot of stings, soak the spot in vinegar.

I've had a horrible experience with a bed of nettles and made sure I could stop the burn if it happened again. I was in too much pain to make a baking soda paste. Standing in the shower pouring vinegar on my legs was all I was capable of.

Oh now I'm sitting here thinking and wondering if I could make a lotion using those herbs and vinegar to put on stings. Lotion only lasts a 6-8 weeks at room temp, but it freezes well.

I made this last year and didn't care for it as it's too oily for my skin. However, Mom loved it. It helped heal up a dry patch on her elbow and does wonders for her hands. I got a request to make her more as she's almost out and has started using it on Dad as well.

Simple whipped body butter

1/2 cup liquid oil

1/4 cup coconut oil

1/4 cup beeswax

1 tsp vitamin E oil

2 TBSP cocoa butter

A few drops of essential oil can be added if desired

Combine liquid oil, coconut oil, beeswax, and cocoa butter in double boiler.

Heat on medium stirring occasionally until melted. Pull off heat.

Add vitamin E oil and essential oils.

Let cool a few minutes then use wisk attachment on hand mixer to whip until it thick but still pourable.

Pour into waiting containers. Use a spatula to get out as it starts getting solid fast oncd it gets to this point.

I filled five, 2 oz containers with this recipe.
Thanks! I have been looking for a whipped body butter recipe. I wonder if you use less liquid oil and cocoa butter and use more beeswax, if that would make it less greasy. Rosemary Gladstar has a whipped lotion recipe that is supposed to be great.

I haven't experimented much with it. Only Mom uses it. I did use this recipe to make my cottonwood bud salve.
