Likewise! Draw back here: 6 months of frozen ground. Not to mention, it would be just one more species needing protection from the predators. But, having ducks is never far from my "trying to convince myself that I must have" list.

Seems these potatoes need 90 days. I dont think we have 90 days of cool temps without freezing

You can put potatoes in the ground up to 3 weeks before the last spring frost. If a frost is predicted after they've broken the ground, you can toss a few flakes of hay over the sprouts, or a blanket if it's a small enough planting. On the other end of the season, you might be able to protect them with a poly tunnel. Of course, a larger planting would be more difficult to protect.

You can plant mid August or the first of September, cross your fingers that we don't get an early killing frost.
