Love my vac seal. It's handy when buying "family size" and repacking at home. I reseal wine with mine, have the little inserts for the bottles. Good for things like olive oil bottles, too. Often I bring home partial bags of flour, sugar, etc from demos & I reseal them, too.

I love my vac- sealer also. I am on my third one - I wore the others out, lol. This last one I bought is the Cabelas model with the 15" sealing bar. It works really good. The best one I had was the Food Saver GameKeeper with 2 pumps, but I can't afford to buy another one of those. Since they got popular, the price has gone sky high.

Nice looking corn. Do you blanch it before freezing, or just seal it up and freeze?

I love mine as well. Besides all the usual suspects, I also bought some Mylar bags that are especially formed for use in vac sealers http://mylarbagsdirect.com/1gavasemyba.html which are great, but the cheaper vac sealers don't get hot enough for a reliable seal. The Cabelas model seems to do all right with these, or you could use a cheaper one and then iron the seam for a more secure seal.
I'm also planning on vac sealing a change of dry clothing to stick into my Go Bag; it should squeeze them down to a very small package.

Do you also use the attachment for dry-sealing mason jars? I love it! I do stick an extra small oxygen absorber into the bottle for peace of mind (think using suspenders and a belt) because I had a seal fail once and I was not happy.

Once I get my solar dehydrator built, I hope to have a lot of dehydrated veggies and herbs that I will be able to seal into mason jars. In a perfect world, that will happen this summer.

We have a cheap vacuum sealer from walmart. Foodsaver i think. Works well. Comes in handy around the homestead. Its preserved ALOT of meat for us the past two years
