This thread is for posting the pleasures that make up your day, the delights you encounter, and even the learning experiences.

Today, I am thankful for:

Warm sunshine. It's such a treat to feel the sun warming my body after a long brutal winter, and many wet gloomy spring days.

Baby woodpeckers. There are some newly fledged babies flitting around. They'll go from one tree to an other. Then, they land on the trunk, about 6" apart, and commence their "Scree-chit, Scree-chit..." Till one of them takes off, followed by the others, and they do it again at the next tree. I think there are 4 of them.

I'm thankful for a gentle rain while I was out planting the strawberries. The "big wet" held off until I got the last plant into the ground.

I'm thankful that the fox did not kill any more of my birds than he did. I'm thankful that the roosters did not get killed. I still have the option of hatching from my flock if the need arises.

I am so very thankful for many things: The blessing of electricity. I can enjoy the air (from the fan) moving over me when the weather is so very hot. We just brought up the small AC unit for the bedroom.

I am thankful for being able to think smart to avoid stress on our aging backs. We used a couple of 2 x 4's and a rolly luggage carrier thing to roll that AC up the 2 sets of steps instead of carrying it. I will be able to sleep in cool comfort tonight, and the 4 AM rooster wake up call will not be as noticeable.

I am thankful for what is now shaping up to be a fantastic growing season. Garden is looking mighty fine.

I am thankful for the beauty that surrounds me in my little piece of paradise. The daily visits and songs of the robins and other song birds, the dew on the grass, the fire fly dances, the feel of raindrops on my skin, being able to run out to the garden to gather greens, or herbs to complete a meal.

I am thankful for hubby's vacation. 11 glorious days together. I'll be working at least 2 of those days, but we'll be able to enjoy the rest, and the days that I do work will be short.

I am thankful for hubby. My best friend for the last 48 years. When he and I put our brain power and strength together, we are able to accomplish at least 3 times as much. We complete each other in thought and deed.

Finally, and first of all, I am thankful for Jesus Christ. He is the center of our relationship, our stronghold, our reason for being.

I am thankful for friends and family. I thank God for leading us to this place, this house, this land, all the neighbors here and the beauty around us.

I thank God for this country and I pray that it will hold together as envisioned by the founding fathers as outlined in our Constitution. I pray that God Bless this nation and not let it go the way of socialism.

The men who crafted the constitution would be sickened, ashamed, appalled at what our country and many of it's people have turned into.

I'm thankful that there was a bit of a cooling breeze this morning when I went out to feed the flock. It warmed up quickly, and was up to 80* by the time I came inside for breakfast 2+ hours later.

I am thankful for safety during the past few days. Long story short: I had a flat tire last Wed. That tire was pancake flat, and would not take any air. I tried, then hubby tried after work. So, he jacked the car up to remove the tire. The car fell off the jack. I took the tire to a repair shop the next day. The tech put air in the tire, and I was walking with him to the dunk tank. An other employee saw us, and said: "put that tire down, it's gonna blow!" It had a herniation on inside wall that was about 4" diameter, and 2" high. They bled the tire, and I had them save it. At the end of the day, I returned to pick up the new mounted tire. The tech showed me the old tire. (still a lot of tread left on that tire). The bead, or wire around the rim was completely shredded at the area of the bulge. He said it was due to defect in the tire, or due to damage during installation. I'm still debating on whether to pursue any recompense from dealer.

But, that tire could have blown when I was driving. DH could have been injured or killed when the car fell off the jack. The technician, myself or any other employees in the vicinity could have been injured.

I am oh so very thankful for God's protection through this issue.
