Government can get in the way!

A guy was here yesterday & asked me about goat cheese. e related that a farmer's market in Charlottesville had lady selling it...was impressed with $3 per oz. Suggested I might want to sell mine.

 Told him with regs to milk, handle, process, inspections, special kitchens...that $75K was needed. Not enough return on $3 per oz to get me into that! NO...Big Brother is not welcome. My gifted cheeses are appreciated.

Exactly and it's not much different with alcohol. All alcoholic beverages are required to go through a middle man (distributor) before selling retail to the general public. It's the distributor that makes the most money. The brewery makes very little in comparison to distribution or retail sales. Government, no thank you!!!

Re: goat cheese, bottled products, and many other things that you may produce for sale: I think a barter system is by far the way to go. Of course... that can get tricky also. A lot of folks simply don't have any thing to barter for your product.

Boy, 66 bottles of cider doesn't last long, with daughter in laws bringing back empty 6 packs and asking for refills. I'm going to have to make another batch. I think I'll do a cherry/apple or pear one next though. I only have 12 bottles left :(
